What It Takes To Revive A Struggling Pet Business

What It Takes To Revive A Struggling Pet Business

What’s it like to come in and take over a struggling pet business?

Well, it’s NOT all rainbows, sunshine, and puppies all day long. THAT’S for sure.

But it IS exactly what today’s guest, Leann Dessauer, the Operations Manager of EarthWise Pet in Liberty Township, Ohio did three years ago.

Leann was invited to come in and take over the day-to-day operations of her brother’s business, and quickly found that there were a lot of foundational pieces that needed some attention.

And here she is, three years later, completely BOSSING her days and helping the business and the team thrive with her perseverance.

In this episode, you’ll hear lessons from Leann that you might see a lot of yourself in, like:

🐾 What the nitty gritty details of your business financials can tell you, and how to work toward getting a hold of them.

🐾 How showing up in your marketing efforts can make a huge difference for your growth (and sometimes you need a little help because it’s exhausting to keep up!)

🐾 The mindset MUST haves you need to keep going and celebrating your successes along the way, no matter how small.

🐾 The realization that Leann had about one year into taking over the business, and why it’s ESSENTIAL that every business owner do this one thing to stay on track.

🐾 How making a plan, even if it’s subject to change, is so important (and the tools you can use to make one!)

    🐾 And SO much more.

Leann is proof that steady progress wins the race, and when you surround yourself with the right support, the possibilities are ENDLESS. Give this one a listen to find out how you relate to Leann’s story!

Inspiring

I am a groomer trying to start a house-call business and I was so scared to take the leap. I started listening to this podcast and it gave me the inspiration to take the leap! I love listening and learning everything they have to teach!

Exactly what I needed to motivate me to do better!

This podcast, but really The Pet Boss Nation Club in general, is exactly what I needed to motivate me into getting all of my “great ideas” out of my head and actually implementing them into my stores. Opening two stores back to back has been a tremendous amount of work and it’s been really hard to keep up that motivation but having the PBC to lean on has been a huge help! I’m a little late in the game getting into the podcast but I’m so glad I finally did because now when I need an extra dose of motivation I just put on an episode and then I find that I can’t wait to put into practice whatever I learned in that episode! So thank you Candice for ALL of your hard work to make things just a bit easier out here for the rest of us and see you in two months at Global!! 🐾

Exactly what the Indie Pet Retailer Needs

Candace has pulled off an outstanding podcast for the independent pet retailer. As an independent retailer it’s great to hear ideas that can directly impact your businesss no matter the size or how long you’ve been open. There are ideas that are shared by people I admired in the pet retailer world and they’re tested and true. Not every idea will work in every store but if you followed only 50% of the advice on this podcast you’d be so out in front and realize that you’re not alone and there are always great ideas you need to hear if you’ve only been in business for a couple of years or over 20 years and if you’ve got a 500 sq foot store or six 3000+ square foot stores. Plus, it’s great that Candace keeps the podcasts to around 30 minutes or so. Just enough time to want to listen to the next one!
