Charles Parker: The Forgotten History of Parker Brothers and its Legacy of Collectible Shotguns

On this episode of The Resistance Library, Sam and Dave review the history of Parker Shotguns and their creator: Charles Parker. Charles Parker is one of those quintessential “American Dream” stories whose business success was forged during the War Between the States and America’s subsequent western expansion. It’s a rags-to-riches tale that combined ingenuity, hard work, and determination to create a multi-generational, family-owned business known for both introducing small-bore shotguns and producing collector pieces. His firearms were so inspiring that nearly 90 years since the company was sold, and over 75 years since a gun has been crafted with the Parker name, these high-quality guns are still sought out among collectors and the Parker Brothers name is considered a classic among gun enthusiasts.   You can read the full article “Charles Parker: The Forgotten History of Parker Brothers and its Legacy of Collectible Shotguns” at Ammo.com: https://ammo.com/articles/charles-parker-brothers-shotguns-collectible-guns-forgotten-history   For $20 off your $200 purchase, go to https://ammo.com/podcast (a special deal for our listeners).   Follow Sam Jacobs on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SamJacobs1776   And check out our sponsor, Libertas Bella, for all of your favorite 2nd Amendment apparel at LibertasBella.com.   Helpful Links:  Resistance Library  Sam Jacobs

Youth Gun Safety: A Smart Parent's Guide to Keeping Kids Safe

On this episode of The Resistance Library, Sam and David discuss a very important topic: youth gun safety.   With a firearm in one-third of American homes with children, it's very likely that, as a parent, you’ve thought about gun safety for your child. This statistic comes from Asking Saves Kids (ASK), a national campaign that encourages gun safety – something that may seem intense for a child, but is absolutely necessary.   Children are naturally curious. To learn about the world, they gravitate toward the new and interesting, especially things that often get portrayed as "taboo" like drugs, alcohol – and guns. Though it can be a nerve-racking discussion, an important part of preparing your child to be an adult is teaching them how to think about guns when they do encounter one, whether it’s in your home or someone else’s. The ASK campaign promotes one simple idea to help with this conversation, which is to ask one very critical question: "Is there an unlocked gun in your house?"   You can read the full article “Youth Gun Safety: A Smart Parent's Guide to Keeping Kids Safe” at Ammo.com.     For $20 off your $200 purchase, go to https://ammo.com/podcast (a special deal for our listeners).

Sojourner Truth: The Forgotten History of the Slave Who Fought For Women's Rights

On this episode of The Resistance Library, Sam and Dave talk about Sojourner Truth and her life.   Sojourner Truth was a lot of things. She was a slave. A mother. A wife. An activist. A preacher. A woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up for what she believed in, regardless of the consequence. A woman who spoke her mind, even when everyone around her disagreed.   Filled with such courage and bravery, she could see the potential of liberty for all, even when faced with adversities far worse than people see today. Sojourner Truth was never a victim of circumstances, even though they were bleak for much of her life. When life knocked her down, she’d get back up, ready to fight again.   She lived by her own standard, even though it was considered radical. She didn’t care. She was here to speak her truth, which she never failed to do. Even her self-given name says as much. “Sojourner” means to “to stay awhile,” combined with Truth.   To stay awhile in truth. To stand in truth.   Many would say that’s exactly how she spent her life.   You can read the full article “Sojourner Truth: The Forgotten History of the Slave Who Fought For Women's Rights” at Ammo.com.   For $20 off your $200 purchase, go to https://ammo.com/podcast (a special deal for our listeners).   Follow Sam Jacobs on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SamJacobs1776   And check out our sponsor, Libertas Bella, for all of your favorite 2nd Amendment shirts at LibertasBella.com.   Helpful Links:  Resistance Library  Sam Jacobs
