Teacher to Administrator
I just listened to one of your podcasts for the first time. In doing so two thoughts came to mind. First, it took you four years to earn your undergraduate degree, two years to earn your masters degree but only one year to earn an administrators license. Just one year to earn an administrators license seems like a real short time. Do you feel that one year is a long enough time to learn all the needs to be learned to run a school?
Second, and easily may favorite part of your podcast was when you said, paraphrasing, “I’m here to serve the teachers.” I was near standing and applauding that comment. Too often people in leadership fail to remove obstacles from a teacher’s plate and seem more interested in creating obstacles that lead to teacher frustration and their potential departure. Approaching your new position with a servant leader mindset is what is too often missing in schools and I applaud you for taking that position.
