    500. Patrick Galante (Night Rider / Lowist / Ex Ice Nine Kills)

    Join Patrick and I as we catch up for the first time in a little over a year. Patrick opens up about how his declining health led him to making the tough decision to step down as the drummer of Ice Nine Kills, arguably at the height of the band's career. Patrick shares his journey to sobriety and we of course nerd out a bit about the ever growing non alcohol space.  We discuss the real stresses of touring as much as INK was and how Pat living a really nomadic lifestyle took it's toll on him, and how bands as a whole are starting to be more honest with fans about not being healthy, mentally or physically, and needing to take some breaks to avoid burnout or worse.  Patrick and I discuss how we've learned to re evaluate a lot of relationships in our lives and through the prism of our working in the bar industry. Andrew and I reflect on the journey of getting to  500 episodes and how it’s similar to his journey between Eidola and Dance Gavin Dance, where it’s head down and continue to do the work. Realizing the importance of taking time to enjoy the journey and not getting burnt out.  Andrew reflects on doing one of the biggest tours of his and DGD’s careers with Falling In Reverse.     499. Stephen Christian (Anberlin / Anchor and Braille)

    Join Stephen and I for this quick chat discussing the upcoming Anchor and Braille album, New Mexico.  Stephen reveals how Anchor and Braille has changed for him over the years, while still at its core being about being a vessel for music that needs to come out of him.  We dig a bit deeper into the process of self exploration Stephen went through at the end of Anberlin calling it a day back in 2014.     497. Nick Hexum (311)

    Join Nick and I as we talk about the inspiration behind his series of solo EP's, the various moon phases, and how I became aware of one of them (waxing gibbous) due to my wife and I seeing a pretty moon one night and wondering what kind it was. From here we dip into Nick really looking inward over the last few years and wanting to challenge himself creatively outside of what 311 does and We discuss how barebones the songs seem to be, with the emphasis being placed more on the lyrics, but that even the songs arrangements and more so the instruments used were very intentional to help evoke the sentiments Nick is conveying. We look back on 3 decades of Nick's career, the journey it's taken him on and if the process of making music that's more immediate will maybe find it's way into creating the next 311 album and more.
