10 | Artist Chat with Rachel Edghill

If you’ve ever wondered about art therapy, and whether or not it might be a good fit for you or somebody you love, you’re going to want to listen to this CAMP Story.

I invited my new friend Rachel Edghill to join me and my Campers on February 12, 2022. Rachel is a licensed Therapeutic Arts Coach in Texas, and she joined us to share not only her journey to this point in her life and her career, but also to talk about how she works with clients using creative supplies and creative techniques to process and move though really difficult situations and heavy emotions.

Rachel and I chatted at length, and after our chat she led us in a live workshop centred around some creative activities to ground us and bring us to centre, and to recognize what we might be feeling in our hearts and in our bodies. That part of Rachel’s visit is exclusive to my CAMP membership, but if you’d like access to CAMP, you can check it out at https://camp.joegirl.com

8 | Artist Chat with Emily Mills

On October 27, 2021, Emily Mills of Sketchnote Academy joined us at CAMP for an Artist Chat + Workshop.

The week before her visit, some of the Campers co-authored a silly, spooky, short story in honour of Hallowe’en, and Emily showed us how to use simple shapes, lines and colour to create a visual representation of our story.

Listen in, and try a few of Emily’s techniques for yourself.

7 | Artist Chat with Tina Thaw

On October 5, 2021, my sweet friend Tina Thaw joined me at CAMP for an Artist Chat.

Consummate creative, Tina shared her journey through the unusual + unexpected careers which led to her current passion of foraging for natural pigments on her North Carolina property, and grinding them into watercolour paints.

The CAMP Community becomes lively in the Q+A following Tina’s interview, chatting about routines, doing too much, doing too little, struggling to focus on too many things at once, and more.

6 | Artist Chat with Ryan Iler

On July 6, 2021, my good friend Ryan Iler of Wonderment Games, joined me at CAMP for an Artist Chat.

We talked about being an insatiable “creative generalist”, and how we can try all the creative things, while at the same time staying focussed + true to our innate creative calling.

5 | Artist Chat with Desirée Ferdig

On May 4, 2021, my Instagram friend Desirée Ferdig of Her Hazel Eyes Studio, joined me at CAMP for an Artist Chat.

Listen in as we talk about things like: calling ourselves “artists” (and how it’s not always as easy as it sounds), being a self-taught artist, and how inspiration is often best found within, and not necessarily through countless hours scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram.
