The Cubs are going streaking. The Chicago Cubs have won four games in a row. The Cubs have won six out of their last eight ballgames. It's been fun. Brandon Hughes and Christopher Morel did not waste any time making noise for the Cubs in their major league debuts. The Pirates defensive issues allowed the Cubs to jump out to a huge lead and ti was never a doubt as the Cubs won 7-0 at Wrigley Field on Cody's birthday. The Cubs stayed in the win column Monday night after an eight run first inning bolted the Cubs to a 9-0 route of the Pirates. The Cubs have now won three straight games, including five of their last seven contests after a brutal 3-14 stretch. Willson Contreras hit his 100th career homer, Yan Gomes stayed hot and Wade Miley went seven innings in his Wrigley Field debut. It was Friday the 13th and the Cubs had to take on old friend Zach Davies. Something had to give. In the end, Davies and the DBacks beat the Cubs 4-3 in Arizona. Ildemaro Vargas hit a 2-run triple to plate two runs that lead to a three runs third inning and that was it for the Cubs. The Diamondbacks responded in the bottom half with three of their own. Drew Smyly pitched six strong innings but allowed four earned runs, including the game winning run on a wild pitch later in the game. The Cubs had a chance to tie or take the lead with the bases loaded in the eighth inning but failed when Alfonso Rivas flew out to end the inning. Cody and Luke break down the game and look forward to tomorrow's game. They also discuss Anthony Rizzo's comments to the media before Thursday's game agains the White Sox on the South Side.
