Today’s podcast

Once again ladies great podcast. Sorry I’m always a little late to the game lol.

I feel in todays society when a child experiences anxiety or depression parents are to quick to jump the gun. Sending them off to their pediatrician, therapist or mental health professional.

They will sit there and evaluate them asking them all sorts of questions. Maybe they will spend tops a half hour with them. How is it possible for them to understand the real root of the problem in such a short amount of time? And this is where our society of physicians are so quick to meditate. How about we first take a more conservative approach. There are so many available tools out there for adults and children on mental health. How about thinking of incorporating daily meditation in our schools. Of course age appropriate. Training them to FOCUS on something (or on nothing) would be really great for their academic performance as well as teaching them to calm down, slow down, and relax in spite of the over-abundance of attention-grabbing stimuli in our current world. People from all faiths meditate; people of no particular faith meditate; and people who reject faith altogether meditate. There is no religious beliefs when it comes to meditating. Having said that I’m so sorry Lori but I’m going to have to disagree on you with getting out there and going to the gym, running or riding on your bike. You’re only masking the issue. I’ve seen it so many times with people especially my husband who is full of anxiety. He is a huge marathon runner and Ironman. It’s about sitting still with yourself and quieting the mind. Probably one of the hardest things to do. When a thought comes to mind try to allow it to go. Keep repeating that pattern over and over. It has taken me many years of practice to finally get to a place where I’m good for an hour or so just quieting the mind and sitting in stillness.

So has my ex husband gotten over his anxiety? Not even close lol. Again love your podcasts ladies
