    Community On Purpose Ep 48-Raphaela Cohee

    Welcome to another episode of Community on Purpose, the podcast where we sit down with women who are intentionally creating community through business, giving or living. I’ve got to give a little trigger warning for today’s episode - we talk about our usual favorites here - identity, mentorship, community - but we’ve also got some trauma we cover and specifically a story, with a happy ending, but tragic just the same around kids and drowning. Our guest Raphaela Cohee shares how her identity changed with a significant tragedy and how her beliefs about herself were challenged not only by a medical diagnosis but by accepting that she was simply not in control. Married for the last decade to her husband Taylor and with two children, Raphi is a master networker, a prowling friendship maker, and an avid believer that we were not meant to do this life alone. Her stories of discovering how people can come together from a living room gift exchange to a massive gala supporting organizations specifically aimed at giving community and a leg up to women and children is both inspiring and necessary. You’ve heard me say it before, community does not happen on accident, and Raphi’s powerful story about how showing up has shown up for her, how serving others has given her purpose and direction, and why she believes that making a difference in this world starts with making a difference for just one person.     Community On Purpose Ep 48- Jordan Maney

    Welcome to another episode of Community on Purpose, the podcast where we sit down with women who are intentionally creating community through business, giving or living. Today’s episode doubled as a personal therapy session with Miss Jordan Maney, the Radical Joy Coach who helps bleeding heart creative business owners learn to be advocates for themselves and their communities through the practice of rest.    Jordan has coached business owners from a variety of industries and having spent four years lovingly disrupting the wedding industry as a planner and advocate of marginalized couples, she pivoted exclusively towards rest and joy coaching with an equity lens in 2020. Our conversation was deeply personal where I asked Jordan questions about how we define rest, how we create boundaries, and how as leaders we can model this behavior for our communities.    I absolutely love Jordan’s perspective on rest being a collective action and why so many of us aren't getting any because we don’t have an individual practice or a community to lean on. Her definition of bleeding hearts as natural advocates who champion everyone but themselves really struck a cord, - the idea that many of us care for everyone else and how Jordan is helping people just like this advocate for their own needs.   This podcast episode is powerful, impactful and Jordan’s passion is evident - knowing when to listen and when to speak, sharing from her heart, building spaces where people don’t have to fit in - everyone needs some Jordan in their life. Today’s conversation with life coach Brooke Guerrero centers around the pivotal moments in our life that necessitate community, consistency, and connection. 13 years sober, Brooke talks about how falling out of community drove her to identify with a new brand of herself and how her recovery journey filled with repair and mindset resets has led her to help others today. As the mom of two kids, her experiences have shaped her perspective on self worth, being a truth teller, the importance of filling up your own cup, and not believing what others say about you, when only you can be the author of your own story. Brooke shares the intimate story of her disease, the diagnosis of her son with Autism at 20 months old while balacing a new born and her career, all while feeling like she was failing at it all. Today I had the opportunity to sit down with Michelle Jones, dynamic trauma educator, speaker and coach, with Integrate Trauma and Director of the Mind Well Collective. With a background in pediatric nursing, community advocacy and leadership, Michelle brings curiosity and a mindful approach to trauma healing and wellness. She is passionate about helping people reconnect to themselves, tune in to their bodies and intuition and create a life that resonates for them. With a passion for helping other moms feel connected and supported through the often challenging and confusing journey of motherhood, Amy has built a thriving organization based on helping others feel seen and heard in a very noisy world. After 10+ years in the corporate PR world, the birth of Amy’s son brought about the need for a new community, one that she knew she was uniquely positioned to create. Our guest today is Amanda Schneider, Executive Director of Amplify Voices, a nonprofit organization serving individuals from marginalized communities who want to use their voice as an instrument of change. After participating in Amplify's first program: Triumph Over Trafficking and Sexual Abuse where she brought her own story to the voice, Amanda brought her varied background of corporate, public education, training and entrepreneurship to her current role at the organization and her passion for serving others to the women they serve. As a momma to three boys, Amanda shares how she navigated her own traumatic experiences through the help of Amplify’s programming and why she is so committed to giving others a voice. With the upcoming release of their documentary, titled The Journey, Amanda hopes to raise awards for what the organization does to support their community and why she believes so strongly in the power of a safe community.
