    57. From finance to fashion to change the narrative for women with Diana Nguyen

    57. From finance to fashion to change the narrative for women with Diana Nguyen

Armoring women from the outside and building them up from the inside... with inspirational blazers.

Diana Nguyen, the fearless founder of Madison Savile, shares her journey of leaving a successful 15-year career in finance and tech to pursue her passion for fashion.

She reflects on her childhood dreams of being an entrepreneur and the unwavering determination she felt when career coaches confirmed her path.

She realized she was meant for more while working at a big four firm, where everyone else aspired to make 'partner', but all she wanted to do was run. This led her to find her purpose in creating blazers that empower women and inspire them to step into their power.

Diana discusses the challenges she faced as a newcomer to business and the value of others sharing their struggles and normalizing the roller-coaster ride of entrepreneurship.

She emphasizes the importance of persevering and knowing your "why." And Diana shares how the signs and messages she received reaffirmed her path and gave her the courage to keep going.

Now, as the founder and designer, Diana explains how Madison Savile is more than just a clothing brand; it's a powerful platform for inspiration and empowerment.

She said, "I wanted to change the narrative for women with a good-looking blazer that makes you feel so badass because you look so good."

With affirmations on the inside of every blazer and the business tagline, "Armoring women from the outside and building them up from the inside," she's pursuing her purpose and helping women proudly wear their power.

This glorious conversation captures what's possible when you bypass what's expected and pursue something greater than yourself.

What you'll learn in this episode:

Following your calling from 15 years in finance and tech to founding a fashion brand.
Trusting your heart and gut, not the logic in your mind, even when you can't see what's ahead.
Receiving validation from coaches to follow a childhood dream.
Entrepreneurship is a roller-coaster journey you only understand once you're in it.
Being asked, "Why don't you just quit and go back to corporate?" is like adding fuel to a fire.
What to do when meeting the love of your life interrupts your plans.
Just because you're good at something doesn't mean you need to keep doing it.
Starting a business from scratch and learning on the job is more valuable than an expensive MBA.
Paying attention to signs when they all indicate you need to keep going.

    56. Challenging the status quo with Danielle Bartholomeusz

“I am a high achiever and to do my best, I need to be enjoying what I'm doing.”

In this episode, we explore the incredible journey of Danielle Bartholomeusz, who transitioned from a 24-year career at the same firm to becoming self-employed and pursuing what lights her up.

Danielle shares her inspiring journey of breaking free from the familiar and defying family expectations to step into the unknown. Leaving university midway through her first year, she took a job with a financial services firm, where she stayed for over two decades. However, an inner calling for something greater led her to leap of faith and embark on a new career as a personal stylist with Intimo.

While working at the same company provided a sense of job security, life outside was far from smooth sailing. After a divorce and six failed pregnancies, Danille's story highlights the power of resilience and determination, the importance of being open to alternatives, and the power of following your instincts.

As a happily married Mum of three kids, Danielle embraces the early days as an entrepreneur and enjoys every moment of flexibility and fulfillment it brings.

This beautiful conversation showcases that when you're courageous to question the status quo, you open the doors to magic.

What you'll learn in this episode:

Breaking the mould to follow your instincts.
The resilience that's required when life doesn't go to plan.
How can setbacks be the catalyst for advocating for yourself?
The power of giving everything you've got before calling it quits.
Balancing the yin and yang when they start to clash.
How time and space can lead to finding the answer to "What else could I do?"
Believing in yourself even when entering the unknown.
How being part of a Women's circle can be cathartic.
Questioning the status quo rather than being told what to do.
Accepting that self-doubt is part of the entrepreneurial journey and going with the flow.

"I can't believe the life that I have now and the life that I once had."

In this deeply inspiring episode, Rebecca Timms (Bec) shares her incredible journey from feeling intrinsically unlovable, believing that if anyone knew who she was, they wouldn't want anything to do with her, to accepting that she is perfect exactly as she is.

Bec discusses a pivotal moment in her life when she realised that being strong and tough wasn't serving her and that what she thought was the secret to happiness wasn't.

She talks about how embracing her feminine energy transformed her relationships and how a chronic debilitating illness became the catalyst that gave her the courage to start her own mortgage broking business, Realise Home Loans.

Now, living from her heart with a profound sense of self-acceptance, Bec guides people to explore their relationship with money and to build strong financial foundations, a crucial step towards unlocking their own happiness.

It’s a beautiful story that will touch your heart and open your mind to the potential we all have within us.

    54. The power of reinvention to flourish in mid-life with Sue West

Midlife is not a crisis but an unravelling that makes space for knitting yourself back together in a way that allows you to flourish authentically in your second act.

In this riveting and transformative conversation, Sue West shares her powerful journey of reinvention and discovering her true calling later in life.

After a successful career in academia, during which she dedicated much of her life to addressing social problems and improving outcomes for children, the pandemic prompted Sue to enter a period of deep reflection.

During this time, she discovered her intuitive and empathic side, leading her to transition into coaching and mentoring women through life's transitions.

She has since become a formidable ageism warrior, helping women tackle the challenges of midlife with confidence and hope.

Through Sue's incredible journey, she has learned the power of experimentation, embracing a learner's mindset, and understanding that reinvention is key to unlocking life's possibilities.

Her story is a testament to the empowerment that comes from embracing change and living fulfilling lives. Throughout the episode, you'll hear Sue's contagious energy for helping women craft thriving "second acts" aligned with their true values and desires.

Whether you're contemplating retirement, a career pivot, or want to flourish at any age or stage, Sue's wisdom will inspire you to feel excited about all the delicious possibilities that await!

    About Sue West:

Sue West is a certified coach, facilitator, and mentor who provides leadership and career coaching services. She is the Director of Flourish After Fifty, a practice dedicated to supporting women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s in living full and deeply satisfying lives.

Sue kindly shared the glorious words on Courage written by the poet David White:

“Courage is the measure of our heartfelt participation with life, with another, with a community, a work; a future.  To be courageous is not necessarily to go anywhere or do anything except to make conscious those things we already feel deeply and then to live through the unending vulnerabilities of those consequences.”

    53. Why failure is beautiful

    53. Why failure is beautiful

Failing is hard. Not trying is even harder.

In this episode, I delve into the intriguing concept of failure. Contrary to popular belief, failing is not a setback but a stepping stone towards growth.

Join me as we explore how changing our perspective can transform failure into a beautiful part of our journey.

Just like bread needs yeast to rise, growth needs failure to flourish.

Along the way I share some personal stories of failure and how I reframed them from painful experiences to valuable learnings, which may be helpful when reflecting on how failure plays out in your life.

I believe that failure is a choice, and through the lessons, we learn, grow, and appreciate how far we’ve come.

What you’ll learn in this episode:

Reframing failure to turn it into something beautiful.
    Why failure is a choice.
How failure makes success even more valuable.
Detaching our self-worth from the outcome or result.
What you would do if you knew you could fail.
How failure and growth are two sides of the same coin.
Reclaiming your power after a setback.
Why letting something go can sometimes be the best choice.
The importance of experimenting without expectation.
Knowing that you are not your failures.
How the things that go wrong are what become memorable and story-worthy.
