Creative Writing - Audio

The tracks on this album offer an invaluable insight into a wide range of techniques and practices surrounding Creative Writing. Writers as diverse as Alan Ayckbourn, Ian McMillan and Tanika Gupta talk openly about their approaches and attitudes to all aspects of writing from original concept to final drafts and productions. Writing for stage, print, television and radio is discussed in engaging and articulate detail. This material forms part of The Open University course A363 Advanced creative writing.
Great - Except for the Glitch...
21/09/2010
This is a great well of advice and insight for writers. The only problem, and the reason I rated this collection 4 stars instead of 5, is that there seems to be some sort of glitch that I hope they can work out. If you'll notice, "Ian McMillan and Repetition," and "Poetry and Surrealism" are both 5 minutes 4 seconds. That is no coincidence - they are the same broadcast. "Poetry and Surrealism" is just "Ian McMillan and Repetition" again. Oh, the irony. As an aspiring novelist, I was looking forward to listening to "The Structure and Development of Novels" with Hilary Mantel, but playing that role is "Poetry and Surrealism." There is no "Structure and Development" broadcast. Hence the retracted star. Other than that, it's great stuff!
