I was about two episodes in and really enjoying this podcast until I listened to a particular episode where the host corrected speech from the interviewee. The reaction from the individual made it clear they were uncomfortable, and it upset me deeply. I enjoy free form talk shows, where the host does not create a constricting environment.
Great Storytellers

I don't know how you find all these great stroytellers, but they are fantastic! It's like stepping back in time to when our parents and grandparents and they're friends would sit around and share their stories. Thank you for this podcast.

Can’t get enough

This sometimes has me rolling in the aisles, laughing; sometimes, just giggling out loud to myself. I’m always entertained and so glad we have Dark Winter Nights to listen to. My brother, his wife, and I are planning to pull a camper from South Carolina all the way up to Alaska - and I am keeping these a secret from them until the trip where we can listen and laugh all along our long journey. I hope Alaskan’s keep sending their hilarious anecdotes, and you keep sharing them with us!
Master Storytelling
05/25/2021
This Podcast purports to be purely about life in Alaska, but if you “listen between the lines,” it’s actually much more than that. Stories are what connect us as people, and Dark Winter Nights is really a workshop on storytelling. The stories transport us, and even though they center around Alaska, they’re universal. So listen carefully and pay attention to the craft. And it doesn’t hurt that the stories are tremendously entertaining!
My favorite podcast of all time

I love this podcast. I love to share them with all of my guest that I take around Alaska. This podcast really captures Alaska and it’s people. Thank you to everyone that shares there stories!
Interview with Alexandra Ellis

In the interview ”Not about Me”, the interviewer’s laughter is disconcerting and grossly inappropriate. Alexandra’s awkward laughter is equally off putting. Not impressed with this episode at all.
