Thank you for offering these episodes and concepts, Paul. In the midst of the disorienting times we’re living through, I find your podcast to be stabilizing and inspiring.
“Might even hate…”
Nov 5
I made it through the first few minutes of your sermon “Why you can’t vote”. Your unaware bias comes out immediately. You say the “Right” person might even HATE. But when you describe the “LEFT” person you don’t say despise or look down on even tho’ you describe that person as “well educated”. Or, one could say “well indoctrinated”. People who are indoctrinated are not going to pursue unity! While it is nice to preach that, it shows a lack of understanding the indoctrination. Please listen to political people who can explain to you what is behind the left mindset. Tearing down and division IS the goal. Like in any marriage, the relationship only works if two good-hearted and well-intentioned people are involved. Asking the wife to give and give and excusing the husband’s behavior — as is the TYPICAL situation in a bad marriage — never works and only hurts everyone. Same in politics. Participating and allowing destruction is evil. The sermon is so deep in individualism and emotions that you have missed the big picture. (My education is in political science, so a different perspective. Not everything is only inside our heads and hearts.) Please look beyond your biases. Addendum: The immigration policy is definitely affecting those of us “up north!” The Plymouth Police are dealing with crime and all kinds of unruliness at the Red Roof Inn at Hwy 55 and 494. That is the hotel where my 80 year old mother stays when she visits because she can’t climb the stairs at my house. This is about to get worse and you are talking about personality profiles! BTW: In one test’s metrics, I score extremely high in Openness 91 and also med high in Conscientious 78 and 13 in Neuroticism!!!! 💥 mind-blowing! So, no, I am not a mess. Again, this is a simpleton sermon. Please seek out the bigger picture! Begging you to look beyond your small bias. All your sermon is doing is neutering any actual political responsibility and action. If your sermon would ever have been useful, it would have been 15 years ago before people divided up. That train left the station a long time ago.
Thank you

I just want to personally thank you for putting this amazing show out there. I am currently on a path of reconstruction and these discussions have been singularly helpful in my quest. The non dogmatic, philosophical approach to faith has given me a new outlook on Christianity. Being able to think about things on a more analytical level has been key to my openness to returning to the church. My path back began through Buddhism and meditation and then looking into the Christian mystics and Christian meditation. Then I found your show and it has really opened my eyes to fruitful exploration of theology. Gratitude to you and the lord. Please keep this going.

The quality of this podcast is insanely good. Lots of time and research goes into producing much of the episodes. Especially love the background music.
