Welcome to The Daily Quote—a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for February 11th. National Guitar Day.

That’s right—today we celebrate one of the greatest instruments ever invented. Whether it’s acoustic, electric, or even air guitar (no judgment), there’s something special about the sound of six strings being strummed, shredded, or—if you’re just starting out—painfully plucked.

Now, full disclosure: my daughter plays the guitar, and she can rock out a pretty great Def Leppard song or two. And, just for the record, this is totally not my influence. Nope, not at all. Just a completely independent musical journey that somehow led her straight into the glorious riffs of Switch 625, Let it Go and maybe soon... Pour Some Sugar on Me.

Which brings me to today’s quote, straight from the legendary Def Leppard:

Now, before you get worried—no, I’m not suggesting you go out in a blaze of glory. But there’s something to be said about giving it your all. Whether it’s music, work, or even just learning a new skill, putting passion into what you do is what makes it worth doing.

Play like nobody’s listening (or like 80,000 people are), go all in, and don’t hold back. So, whether you play guitar, air guitar, or just appreciate a good solo, take a moment today to crank up your favorite song. And if you happen to have a guitar lying around, why not pick it up and give it a go? Worst case—you scare the pets. Best case—you unleash your inner rock legend. Or Jazz, pop, country or whatever your jam is.
