The Beef Podcast Show

Hello there!

In this episode of The Beef Podcast Show, Dr. Luis Prada e Silva from the University of Queensland discusses the challenges and innovations in managing beef cattle in harsh climates, including the critical role of nitrogen efficiency and the impact of protein supplementation on calf survival. So, join in on this research leading to innovation that will continue to drive productivity and sustainability in the beef cattle industry. Listen now on all major platforms!

"The more efficient animals, those that can raise a calf every year, can recycle 80 to 90% of nitrogen, showcasing their resilience in low-protein environments."

Meet the guest: Dr. Luis Prada e Silva is an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland with a Ph.D. in Animal Science from Michigan State University. He has extensive experience in beef cattle nutrition, ruminant physiology, and forage management. Previously, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, teaching ruminant nutrition and biochemistry. Dr. Silva's research spans ruminant microbiology, molecular biology, and the economics of cattle production, aiming to enhance cattle productivity.
