Britney Spears has been under a permanent conservatorship since 2008. All financial and personal decisions must be approved by her conservators, including her father, Jamie Spears. Britney has earned hundreds of millions of dollars during this time, performing and touring extensively, while being deemed too impaired by the courts to be in control of her life. Britney is one of the most recognizable celebrities in the world, yet very little of the massive media coverage she generates has focused on the conservatorship until recently as the #FreeBritney movement has grown. Why aren't more people aware that Britney Spears has been under a permanent conservatorship for more than 13 years? Why and how is it possible that one of the most famous women in the world has remained in a virtual prison of lawyers, managers, and handlers with no end in sight? Eat, Pray, Britney tries to draw attention to the restrictive situation Britney is currently in, while also examining her life and career through a feminist lens.
Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy
We kick off season two by chatting with Nicholas Hautman, our favorite journalist and editor at Page Six. We chat about Britney, sources, and common misconceptions about the inner-workings of media outlets. We follow it up with a deep dive on Controlling Britney Spears, the flurry of documentaries, and our many grievances.
There Can Be a Hundred Episodes in a Room...
In the final episode of season one and our hundredth episode (!) we cover more of the fallout from Jamie's surprise petition two weeks ago before getting to the BIG news of the last week - Britney is engaged! We also look ahead to the hearing a bit and talk about Britney's Instagram getting deactivated. Lastly, we want to thank everyone for listening, sharing, liking, reviewing, commenting, DMing, and emailing us over our first 100 episodes - we really appreciate you being along on this ride with us!
In this bonus episode, we jump on the horn to give a live reaction to the news that Jamie Spears has filed a petition with the courts to support the end of the conservatorship of Britney Spears.
Pistol Packin’ Papa
In this episode, we go through some semi-recent updates but shift gears to focus on Jamie Spears and his less than stellar reputation. We read through two articles that thoroughly detail Jamie's southern charm and hospitality. How he was made permanent conservator of Britney's person and estate while waving all of these red flags is a mystery only the courts can account for!
Big Cats and Little Dogs
In this episode, we cover a few minor details we missed from our last 3+ hour epic. We spend some time on JL's Instagram, catch up on Lynne Spears' social media activity, and review some details from court filings that we somehow didn't cover last time. Finally, we discuss the troubling allegations against Britney, her team's dubious response (or lack thereof), and what it might mean for the September 29th hearing. And we of course cover the latest and greatest from Britney's Instagram.
Just the Tip
In this episode, we start by diving into JL's IG tears and Cade Hudson's sudden emergence in the #FreeBritney movement. From there, we cover multiple filings by Britney's attorney Matthew Rosengart, declarations from Jodi Montgomery and Lynne Spears, and Jamie's bombshell acknowledgement that his tenure as conservator is on borrowed time. We close out the episode with a few interesting tidbits from Britney's Instagram, where she tells us very clearly: WE ONLY KNOW HALF OF IT!

Came back here to rewrite my review and once again give a huge applause to Jaclyn & Lisa. These girls are so devoted to finding hard facts. It’s obvious that they research their butts off to make this podcast. They are so good about trying to stay unbiased and look at every situation or celebrity statement from every point of view. I’m so glad you guys decided to make this podcast. Thank you for your hard work 💗💗💗💗👠👠👠👠👒👒👒👒👑
