Ed Talk with Dr. Bob Bravo

I love listening to Cathy Fosnot. She is my math hero! It is a "long journey of mathematical learning" and it was a wonderful opportunity to have her here in the South working with our facilitators on this journey.

I appreciate the variety of topics covered and guests interviewed on Ed Talk with Dr. Bravo. I learn so much about instruction every time I “tune in” and enjoy Dr. Bravo's facilitation of these important conversations. I particularly liked hearing from Joel Breakstone with SHEG and CA Teacher of the Year, Lovelyn Marquez-Preuher. I look forward to more learning opportunities!

It’s quickly apparent why Lovelyn Marquez-Prueher was selected as one of five Teachers of the Year by California's Department of Education. She teaches students whose first language is not English, and also Students with Disabilities alongside regular education students in her 8th Grade English classes at Dodson Middle School. (Shout out, San PEdrO!) She holds ALL students to the same high expectations. She believes in them and differentiates her instruction to meet their needs. Way to go! The questions are to the point in this Ed Talk, and the answers serve us well as we look to work together as teachers, administrators and parents to do the very best by our students. I love that Marquez-Prueher suggests teachers open their doors to each other to share best practices and to share challenges - being open to “constructive criticism”. I agree that some of our best growth occurs when we learn from each other. I also love that she’s trying the work of the Right Question Institute by using the Question Formulation Technique. Keep up the great work!
