In depth investigative reporting. It stuns and infuriates me that there has never been any studies done specifically looking at long term performance and outcomes of female DSD athletes and Non-DSD female athletes. The study of all athletes is invalid and inaccurate research. And the long ongoing judgement of women’s bodies and what we are and are not allowed to do is disrespectful and unacceptable.

My intention is to learn something I don’t know, to understand the other side of this issue, this production failed that from two aspects: 1. Cherry picking facts and information. I would think since Caster Semenya is mentioned, at least provide a crucial context of Caster, who fathered two children, the essential biological fact and social aspect of sex and gender is skipped, very disappointing. 2. The other aspect I think the reporter failed badly is the reality of intersex in undeveloped world, which is deeply rooted in misogyny, intersex people sexual characteristics are truly the spectrum, however, almost all intersex people are raised as girls, why? Women shouldn’t be the category for “imperfect” men. Please try the idea that female is the first gender, you will see the absurdity of this project.

“Tested” was a fascinating, frustrating, and depressing listen. There was so much information on the Olympics and World Athletes dark history on how they treat women. Aside from all of the great points and facts discussed in the episodes, it is INCREDIBLY infuriating that all the people who spoke/gave statements on behalf of World Athletes were MEN. When are we going to live in a world where men stop regulating women’s bodies? If the concern is “protecting women”, perhaps women should be the ones reviewing the data and having discussions. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch women’s sports going forward. Knowing how much sexism/ misogyny/ racism is perpetuated by these organizations takes any enjoyment out of it.
