Hey everyone and welcome back to another episode on Sapien's Playground!

While travelling the US I had the great pleasure and honour to meet up twice with Lorenzo Barberis Canonico, PhD and spend several hours recording what turned out to be one podcast episode with me being the host and the second one where he was interviewing me.

Lorenzo works as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford Univeristy in California where he is involved in developing applications that leverage the Wisdom of Crowds to train machine learning models in the context of biomedical data science and bioinformatics. Previously, Lorenzo as a researcher in Human-Centered Computing researching the intersection between AI and Game Theory. He wrote his dissertation on prediction markets and collective intelligence which eventually became the topic for his TedTalk.

On the podcast we spend the first half talking about the art of podcasting, as well as his participation in the speech and debate club during high school
after he had moved from Italy to the US 13 years ago. The conversation later involved into a great discussion on various political issues and Artifical Intelligence which I thoroughly enjoyed, not least because of Lorenzo's excitement but also because of the way he manages to always stay open-minded and emotionally detached even when we somewhat disagreed.

Enjoy listening to the first part of our conversation!
