Ep. 113: Mindful Breathing Tools for Teens with Dr. Matt Dewar Mind Declutter with Athea Davis

    • Education

Happy Day, Friend!

On this week’s podcast episode, I’m talking about mindful breathing tools for teens.
I'm  so excited to have my friend and colleague, Matt Dewar, Ed.D., back on the show this week! We had such a great conversation talking about mindful breathing tools for teens and his new book, The Mindful Breathing Workbook for Teens.
Motivated by his own personal struggle with anxiety as a young adult and informed by almost two decades of teaching mindfulness and emotional intelligence in schools, Dr. Matt Dewar’s message is simple: Through increased awareness, knowledge, and skill, you have the ability to transform stress and adversity into emotional strength and resilience.
Dr. Dewar has shared his message with Fortune 500 executives, collegiate and professional athletes, and school districts across the country. He is the former president of the Coalition for Schools Educating Mindfully and the author of The Mindful Breathing Workbook for Teens (2021) and Education and Well-Being: An Ontological Inquiry (2016). His work has been featured on TEDx, NPR, Thrive Global, and the National Wellness Institute.
Matt and I talk about:
~ his new book, The Mindful Breathing Workbook for Teens;
~ how and why mindfulness practices can be such a positive force in a teen’s life;
~ why parent modeling of mindfulness and emotional intelligence is vital for a teen’s success
~ the mechanics of mindful breathing and how you may be doing it all wrong; and
~ and so much more!
It was such a lively conversation. I hope you gain a lot of value from it, and hope it inspires you to order a copy of his new book, and start practicing these tools at home on your own so your teen sees first-hand the positive impact of a mindfulness practice in your/their life.
