Ep. 127: [Student Voices Series] Student Life, Culture, and Well-Being with Starr K. (Part 2‪)‬ Mind Declutter with Athea Davis

    • Education

Happy Day, Friend!
On this week’s podcast episode, I’m talking about student life, culture, and well-being in my student voices series, Part 2.
My special guest today is 8th grade middle school student, Starr K.
I had the honor of teaching Starr in our yoga + mindfulness classes at KIPP Journey for two years and I’m so thrilled to highlight her voice and story on the show today.
Starr K. is an 8th grader currently attending KIPP Journey Collegiate. She was formally introduced to mindfulness in the 3rd grade, and ever since she has found many ways to use mindfulness in difficult situations. She spends her time doing gymnastics, or you might see her reading a book about mental health or historical fiction.

Ever since Starr was in the 5th grade, she has had a passion for social studies and has been curious about what actually happened in history and not just what is seen in the textbooks. Most of all Starr has the propensity to be great and to be a star!
Starr and I talk about:
~ current stressors in student life;

~ how mindfulness helps her gain clarity on her values;

~ how it helps her manage her emotions;

~ what parents and teachers can do to support their teens;

~ teen mental and emotional health;
~ various other topics on student life, culture, and well-being;
~ and so much more!

Let's learn, grow, and glow together 👉 @atheadavis on all the social media channels.

And, don’t forget to subscribe to the show so you can stay tuned in to all the mindful living love.
Keep breathing deep + shining bright, Friend! 🌟
