Ep. 564: Gradually, Gradually, Gradually... Suddenly

Sometimes we’d like to wave a magic wand and be miraculously healed from all our traumas and pain. Unfortunately for us (and you) we live in the real world where our pains demand to be felt and there’s not much we can do but to wait it out. There is one bright spot: just like in business growth, change happens gradually… gradually… gradually… and then all at once! So maybe we can’t wave a magic wand to get rid of all of our pains and be healed suddenly, but we can show up daily and keep trying new things until—all of a sudden—we feel better. Healing is possible if you keep looking for it. What the fuck is “healing work”? [1:23] Gradually, gradually, gradually, suddenly [6:34] Healing binge eating disorder [7:58] You can’t predict the snowflake that will break the branch [15:19] Keep going til you find what works [17:00] This shit takes time [20:50] Subscribe to The Lighthouse Letters https://dannyjdotcom.substack.com/ Don’t forget to leave us a review and subscribe so you never have to miss an episode! Ep. 558: Caught in the Messy Middle of Things

This podcast grew out of some really s****y times in our lives, and since then we’ve learned a lot about how to deal with all that shittiness, especially when that shittiness is inescapable. No one wants to suffer, but the hard times happen and we feel better prepared to deal with them now. In the last episode, Danny J shared a bit about how she’s in a tough place right now, so today she wanted to share a little about how she’s sitting in the discomfort and making it through as best she can. It’s never a fun time to be caught in the messy middle, but we trust ourselves enough to know that we can always make it through to the other side. Going through tough emotional times [1:39] What it’s like in the messy middle parts [3:05] Mixed messages from outside opinions [4:44] Getting your mental and physical health together [7:32] There’s a time and place for all your feelings [9:17] Trying to distract ourselves [11:42] A morning ritual for mental health [15:18] Healing takes intention [22:09] What does your body need? [24:25] There’s no need to rush to make decisions [26:36] Shit sucks, but it will all be okay [28:32] Don’t forget to leave us a review and subscribe so you never have to miss an episode! Ep. 557: How to Overcome the Need for Affirmation

We’ve f****d up and started over and changed our minds so many times in this life that we lost count. In our younger years, we made a lot of decisions that we thought other people wanted us to make and when we wanted to do something different, we waited for someone to tell us it was okay before we acted. But here’s a tip, Bestie: it’s not your job to convince someone to “get” you. There will always be people who don’t understand why we make the choices we do, but instead of waiting for someone else to get it, just be you and eventually you’ll get the affirmation you’re looking for. Life is too damn short to be living it for someone else. There’s so much comparison at the beginning [3:24] Letting your parents down [7:52] Feeling alone and judged in your decisions [11:16]  Detaching from the outcome and keep taking action [13:38] People respect action [16:27] Practical pessimism [18:31] You might have to be the one to go first [21:43] Don’t forget to leave us a review and subscribe so you never have to miss an episode!
