    Episode 203 - Diana Noricumbo - Candidate Calexico City Council

    THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT. My guest today is a Calexico High Alumni, a former Marine, a mother, wife, business owner and now candidate for Calexico City Council, Mrs Diana Noricumbo. Her family moved from Salinas to Calexico when she as 12 and she's been here pretty much ever since, except for those years she was in the service.     THIS IS NOT AN ENDOSEMENT. My guest today is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an educator, life long Calexican and now candidate for Calexico City Council. Although she does not consider herself a politician she decided to throw her name in for Calexico City Council because she was tired of seeing the same people get elected and nothing gets done to better Calexico and yet thing keep getting worse and worse. Her passing for sharing the same life experiences she lived growing up in Calexico with her kids and grandkids is what drives her to get involved in what she called this circus that Calexico politics has turned into. After working for a couple of years in the El Centro Elementary School District and seeing all 4 of his kids go through the Calexico Unified School District educational system he's decided to run for Board of Trustees.     Episode 199 - Aaron Lopez - Ursa

    Today I had the please of talking to owner and chef at Ursa, chef Aaron Lopez. We talked about what it was like growing up in Calexico and how food was never something he envisioned himself doing as a career but at the same time his artist side has helped him be creative in the kitchen as well. Aaron left Calexico pretty much right after high school and spent the last 20 years working in Los Angeles, Hawaii and Austin working in fine dinning restaurants. During his stay in Austin he and his wife had some time to travel and they spent it exploring the Southwest and this is where Ursa became an idea that 5 years later became a thing.
