Episode 6 - Step 3 - Emergency Protocol

Emergency Protocol

On today’s episode Denise and Jackie share their second of the Twelve Steps reimagined, “We trust that Something Bigger is taking care of us.”

The original wording of Step Three references a capital ‘G’ god, which Denise and Jackie never quite sat comfortably with. In this episode, Jackie unpacks her history of religious influence which stems from Jewish and Christian faiths and discusses what universal power she finds comfort in today.

Denise shares the difference between believing in something vs. trusting something and how actions force us to make different decisions. Together, Denise and Jackie also dive into practical ways to make meaningful change, how to use commitments to keep promises, and what this step means for people who are atheist or agnostic.
