Episode 9: Honorable Roy K. Altman (District Court Judge, SDFL)
Judge Altman is a United States District Judge in the SDFL (Miami). He is a graduate of Columbia University and Yale Law School. Judge Altman served as a federal prosecutor and commercial litigator prior to joining the bench in 2018, at the age of 36. On a personal front, he is the husband to a powerhouse woman, Dr. Rachel Silverstein (Miami's Waterkeeper), and father to two young sons. He is a true mentor to all and is one of the most open and candid District Judges you'll ever meet.
In this episode, Judge Altman discusses how he's dealt with imposter syndrome during every career transition; why he started scripting his closing arguments even before the complaint or indictment was drafted; knacks he learned as a trial lawyer (such as memorizing all jurors' names during voir dire); and why, as a Jewish immigrant of Hispanic background, he believes his legacy lies in honoring his ancestry.
