#125 - the way we live now (w/ ryan swen)
The Human Surge (2016) / Blackhat (2015)
returning champion Ryan Swen ( @swen_ryan ) joins us yet again for a sequel to his original appearance... or would it be a prequel? the way we live now. two incredibly contemporary films about living in our current age. digital interference, globetrotting inter-connectivity, and the isolation that it brings. Ryan also discusses the infamous Swen Cut.
++ discussed on malcolm in the middle: Tokyo Sonata, Malignant, Cry Macho, Singin' in the Rain
#124 - goodbye Ozu, goodbye Lang
An Autumn Afternoon (1962) / The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960)
in honor of our final season, we talk about a couple of final films by legends of the game Yasujiro Ozu & Fritz Lang. i can only hope we live up to the standards they set when we release our final episode in a few months.
++ discussed on malcolm in the middle: Porky's, Pulse, City Hall
#123 - david prior
my interview with the director of The Empty Man, AM1200, and many of your favorite dvd bonus features, David Prior.
malcolm and jt were kicked out of the studio for this one — the empty man made me do it!
#122 - it's a siege!
rio bravo (1959) / assault on precinct 13 (1976)
season 3 starts with a bang — let's hole up in the studio and just ride this thing out. two seige films, the late masterpiece by Howard Hawks & John Carpenter's first great film. what would we ever do without the guiding light that is Howard Hawks?
++ discussed on malcolm in the middle: the blue sky maiden, heartworn highway, brawl in cell block 99
#121 - rambling man
mister lonely (2007) / jubal (1956)
we're just a couple of outsiders passing through, don't mind us. Malcolm brings us some unconventional characters and movies from auteurs Harmony Korine and Delmer Daves in the gripping season 2 finale of extended clip. pretty big news about the future of the show is also discussed.
++ the night house, zabriskie point, the philadelphia story discussed on malcolm in the middle
#120 - baby on baby
the baby of mâcon (1993) / superbabies: baby geniuses 2 (2004)
peter greenaway provokes the critical class and jon voight terrorizes the baby class. forget high-low contrasts, this is simply the most disturbing double feature we've ever discussed. thanks, JT. RIP Bob Clark.

Taking “niche podcast” to the next level!
Exactly 100 people would DIE for this show!! That’s called street cred!
Why does this pod only have 3 stars lol
Good stuff, sad to see it’s ending soon
cool podcast and normal
i don’t really subscribe to auteur theory but these guys always have interesting insights about the incredibly wide variety of movies they watch, plus they’re normal and not weird freaks like on most other film podcasts. they got me hooked on ford and eastwood as well so that’s cool
