321 - The Invention of Lying
It’s been a while since we talked about a bad movie on the podcast, so we sat down with Ricky Gervais’ 2009 comedy The Invention of Lying. We got into some beverages, a stacked cast, a glowing Ebert review, product placement, Hollywood daycare, and a whole lot more.

319 - Mad Men "The Crash" / Petulia
The Cinema of Mad Men continues, with “The Crash” and Richard Lester’s Petulia. In the classic season 6 episode, the office is visited by a Dr. Feelgood, Don retraces his sexual pathology to his childhood, and his kids get burglarized. In the 1968 film Petulia, George C. Scott and Julie Christie strike up a post-screwball romance from hell in the hippest, strangest parts of San Francisco. Infidelity, drugs, and the commodification of counter-culture are all over this pairing.

My new favorite movie podcast
I’ve started listening to Extended Clip over the past several months and it’s quickly become one of my favorites to listen to. As someone who’s been a lifelong cinephile without any film school, it’s interesting to listen to all of the hosts insights. They’re also genuinely and regularly funny.
Thinking Man’s Blank Check
This podcast is almost exactly like Blank Check, except more thoughtful and concise.
The Best Podcast. Period.
It’s a crime this isn’t the biggest movie podcast around. Informative, hilarious, heartfelt - what more could you want!?
