It's just gotta be. For a while, indefinitely, maybe not ever, what's ever? IDK. Go ahead and listen and I talk through it. I also talk through some stuff around doomscroling and mental health in the main body of the pod but... yeah. It's time for this to rest a while. I love you all.

holding with less fury, playing is that true, heartbreak

Someone wrote a note asking about some severe heartbreak, they had heard the fuck breakups episode, and I jumped off of that. I kind of didn't address what they were talking about I realized after so I will return to that but hopefully there's stuff in here that resonates with you. come along and hang out with me and my good bad brain for a pretty lengthy chunky brain breather.

    what is after severe trauma

    what is after severe trauma

We devoted this episode entirely to one listener's question about what lies after severe trauma. The listener was sexually abused by their father though most of their family has not acknowledged this. Recently their father died and the listener expressed they'd always felt the feelings of trauma would go away with him, but they have not. This is a heavy but very useful episode, we are very fortunate to have Dr. Nick Barr with his extensive experience as a traumatologist to speak to. I just want to say how much I deeply appreciate the listeners of this show who share their difficult experiences with everyone. It is very generous to share these stories so that others might also learn and heal from them. I hope you find something useful in this episode. Self-care, hydrate, be well.

    helping with anxiety

    helping with anxiety

I have bad adhd and while I certainly experience anxiety along with my depression, I have taken for granted my understanding (or more accurately lack thereof) in other people who experience really serious anxiety. So, I wanted to take this opportunity with Dr. Nick to own up to how I can make anxiety for my loved ones worse because I don't really understand it so all my instinctive coping mechanisms only make it worse for the person I love who is experiencing anxiety. So, this ep has good advice for helping those close to you with anxiety as well as for those with anxiety looking to help themselves.

Beautiful and Introspective

This show is a wonderful look at the inner workings of humanities struggles and strengths. It reminds me that it’s okay to not be okay sometimes, that everyone feels that way at some point throughout their lives. The host has a way of including the listener that makes it feel like I’m in a conversation with my own friend group. It reminds me that I’m right where I’m supposed to be. It’s a philosophical look at life, love, and self and it’s absolutely perfect.

Thanks Jarrett for creating this lovely space that feels like an intimate camaraderie between you, your friends, and the listener. It is one of my favorite podcasts to date.

Relatable and more helpful than you give yourself credit for ❤️

Hi 🙋‍♀️ I just listened to ‘Hi I’m crazy but also fine...’ and wanted to let you know that this episode in particular felt like a little glimpse into the inner dialogue divergences and ramblings. Though from this episode it seems you’re much better at getting back on track and remember to complete your thoughts. I struggle with even remembering what the heck I was saying after rambling about 12 other things. Lol But anyways, for me your podcast gives me actual insight into adhd and anxiety based experiences - stuff I never associated with those diagnoses you made click for me. So thank you 🙏 for striving to push through the brain weasels and follow your creative urges because they are totally valuable just as you make them in any free form structure that allows forward progress. When you step back after proclaiming “done” you will begin to see the beauty and good of what you’ve put your energy into and made for all of us. ❤️

Good topics, but somewhat irritating host (sorry)

Full disclosure: I’ve only listened to a few episodes, so not sure how representative this review is of the pod overall, but here goes.

I just finished listening to the interview with Nicholas Barr. The guest seemed highly knowledgeable and genuinely engaged, and the topic is of great interest to me, but the host kept interrupting the guest, over and over again throughout the nearly 2.5-hour show! The guest would start saying something that I really wanted to hear and, sure enough, the host would blurt something out, often speaking over the guest, and then just keep going on and on while the guest waited and then, not surprisingly, they’d be off on some new tangent and the thing I wanted to hear would never be revisited. This happened several times. I started to find myself getting worked up with frustration and annoyance at the mere sound of the host’s voice, and towards the end, I sensed frustration in the guest, too. The host rarely contributed anything that was interesting to me over the course of these interruptions. It seemed to me that he really loves to hear himself speak and believes his utterances quite pithy. It’s too bad. This episode had lots of potential
