    Episode 5 - Let’s get real for a second

This week’s podcast features a reading of a powerful extract from Ruby Wax’s book - A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled, in which she shares a piece she wrote during a depression. I also talk about my own experience whilst I’ve been in a low the past few weeks and why this week’s quote from JmStorm is so important. Expect a completely honest and raw telling of what depression feels like - please be aware this can be triggering.

    Episode 4 - The Journey

    Episode 4 - The Journey

This week’s episode draws inspiration from the incredible American poet Mary Oliver and her poem ‘The Journey’. I start off as usual by giving a little background about Mary, in particular the inspiration for her writings and her relationship with nature. I then go on to read the poem before discussing how we’re all on a journey to self-discovery and why it’s so important for our mental health.

    Episode 3 - You’re a wizard, Harry.

Two for the price of one this week! I start off with a quote from Sri Chinmoy who talks about being ourselves in order to find true joy. Next, I move on to the story of JK Rowling who author’s this week’s main quote. In particular, I talk about her experiences of writing the first Harry Potter book whilst dealing with depression, personal loss and financial issues, and ultimately the huge success she became. Lastly, I discuss this week’s main quote from Order of the Phoenix which focuses on the good and bad in all of us, and the choice we can make over which we’ll feed.

Episode 2 - You can fly!

Episode 2 - You can fly!

This week’s quote comes from the hugely inspirational Helen Keller, the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. I talk a little bit about her background, her views on happiness and service, and how the Good Thoughts Bank shares in her ideas. I then go on to talk about her quote and my own interpretations of it, drawing on a couple examples from A Touch of Frost and of course, Dumbo. The podcast ends with all the cheesiness (of course) and a reminder of how absolutely awesome you are! (The quote from my mood board is from Rabindranath Tagore)
