The ideologies of caste and class are not as straightforward as Nepali Maoists have historically made them out to be. In this episode, we talk to two researchers who looked into different communities to examine how Maoist agendas interacted with Dalit and indigenous movements.

Today, we're going to talk about women during Nepal's Maoist revolution.  How can conflict bring women forward? And how is it different for the ones that stood with a gun against the state...and the ones that lived on in spite of the chaos around them? We'll be talking to researchers and ex-PLA soldiers to explore the lives and stories of women who held great hopes for change, and the ones that witnessed it happen on the ground. 

Welcome to Thabang- a remote village in Rolpa. In today's episode, we're going to talk about how this village became a Maoist epicenter. Featuring interviews with various academics and Thabangi natives, we're going to explore how the local conditions for a national-level Maoist uprising were met.
