    50. From Scarcity to Freedom: Transforming Your Relationship to Money with Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial Planner Evan Carter

    Introducing Evan Carter

Evan lives in Atlanta with his wife, Julia, and three daughters, ages nine, seven and four. He has a unique background in both finance and ministry/counseling, which enables him to strike an important balance with IQ and EQ. As a Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial PlannerTM, Evan is always thinking ahead for others. He likes to ask intentional questions to understand the “whys” behind people’s financial goals. Authentic and raw, he digs deeper to deliver a comprehensive outlook and plan—one that’s focused on helping people live a full life with no regrets.

There are two constants throughout Evan’s life—relationships and money! Starting with his paper route at nine years old, he has always worked hard, saved, and invested wisely. He graduated with high honors from Georgia Tech and went on to complete the rigorous qualifications as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional.

However, he also spent eight years serving with the youth ministry of Young Life, graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Seminary and served as a Chaplain at Grady Hospital. In other words, “trust” is not just another word he talks about; he has been walking alongside families in this capacity for twenty years.

Evan is an avid volunteer with Generous Giving, an Advisory Board member of The Shepherd Center, Treasurer of School Ministries ATL and Morris Brandon PTA. He also helped establish and co-leads the Atlanta Associates Program–a summer leadership program for college students interested in professional, spiritual and community development.

    49. The Redeeming Process of Becoming a Writer with Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

    49. The Redeeming Process of Becoming a Writer with Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

“My writing life has become a metaphor for my spiritual life. In times of doubt, insecurity, and longing to see a path forward, I’ve learned that it's about trusting God and taking baby steps forward." —Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

If God is calling you to write, it may not be solely to offer a book to the world. It may be for the purpose of unlocking something deep within your soul. Writing is like a personal excavation project, where you get to unearth hidden emotions and experiences and beliefs. That's what today's episode is all about.

Today we welcome Angela Correll. Angela lives in Kentucky with her husband, Jess, on a grass-finished cattle farm. She is the award-winning author of Grounded (2013), Guarded (2015), and Granted (2017), a trilogy of novels that became Amazon bestsellers and were adapted to the stage for sold-out audiences at the Pioneer Playhouse, Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theater. The stories span settings in Angela’s native Kentucky and Italy.

Angela and Jess are the founders of Wilderness Road Hospitality, a suite of businesses comprised of: The Inn at Wilderness Road, The Bluebird Restaurant, Esther’s Wellhouse and Spa, Mama DeVechio’s Pizzeria, Cerulean Catering, and Kentucky Soaps & Such, as well as a number of renovated historic homes that provide comforting hospitality to travelers visiting Stanford, Kentucky’s second oldest city.

Angela also hosts the Wedgwood Good Lit Writer’s Retreat, a week-long writer’s retreat with guided teaching for up and coming fiction authors, held annually in Stanford, Kentucky.

47: The End of Safe with Pete Heiniger, Director of Cancer Family of Faith

“Choosing not to risk is a risk.” –Pete Heiniger, Director of Cancer Family of Faith

Today we welcome Pete Heiniger. Pete currently serves as Director of Cancer Family of Faith in wake of leadership roles at Faithlife and Outreach. His work is defined by creating industry-best teams that have achieved aggressive goals for some of the top brands in the country. Pete has also served 16 years in pastoral ministry, the last five as an executive pastor of a large church in Colorado Springs. But if you’d ask him what the biggest call on his life is now, he’d say, "Building a voice and a platform for cancer fighters and their families."

Pete is a cancer fighter himself with a Stage IV Cancer diagnosis and has already topped 16 rounds of chemo. This led him to helping lead an initiative out of The Grow Center for Church and Mission in Chicago: Cancer Family of Faith.
