1015. A Reading of “Democratic Education” by C.S. Lewis (Christ and Classics, 22)

1015. A Reading of “Democratic Education” by C.S. Lewis (Christ and Classics, 22)

In this short essay, C. S. Lewis explores the concept of democratic education and its relationship to preserving democracy. Lewis argues against the abolition of compulsory subjects and emphasizes the need for a wide curriculum that provides opportunities for every student. He questions the desirability and feasibility of a nation educated democratically. Lewis also examines the two sources of the demand for equality—fair play (good) and envy (very bad)—and the dangers of attempting to propitiate evil passions. He advocates for an aristocratic and highbrow education that prioritizes the interests of intellectually curious students.

Great Podcast!

Been looking for a podcast that works through a passage of scripture in Greek. This is that podcast. I also love the special episodes.

From a student of Koine Greek

Fabulous podcast. Please keep it up. Too often familiarity with the languages bears itself out in a superiority complex in pastoral leadership, rather than in humble, clear and beneficial exegesis, drawing out timeless truths from God’s Word to feed God’s people. As Spurgeon quipped, God called the shepherds to feed his lambs, not his giraffes. Thanks for bringing the fruit down for the herd to feast guys.
