The Benefits of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils - Pt. 1

The Benefits of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils - Pt. 1

Aromatherapy has been used for centuries, dating back to ancient Egypt, to treat various physical, mental and emotional illnesses.
As the natural health movement expanded in the late twentieth century, one popular "new" form of healing was the use of essential oils - concentrated oils taken from the flowers, fruits, seeds and other parts of plants.
Technically, essential oils are hydrophobic liquids containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. The oils are essential because they capture the "essence" of a plants fragrance (not because they are essential in terms of being indispensable).
Join Partners in Health and Biz talk show host/Natural Health Consultant, Gail Dixon-McBride, as she shares how aromatherapy and essential oils can be used to help and heal the body, mind, and emotions, in this two part series called, "The Benefits of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils "- Part 1.

Antioxidants in Foods to Prevent Diseases and Slow Down Aging

Antioxidants in Foods to Prevent Diseases and Slow Down Aging

While many antioxidant nutrients are available in supplement form, for the most part it is better to get a combination of food-derived antioxidants. Whole foods also contain fiber, and nutrients from whole foods are probably more readily absorbed than those in pills or supplements.
Growing research shows that there is synergy among dietary antioxidants and that "networking" combinations are more beneficial, as each antioxidant has special protective properties for particular body functions. Foods and products that combine two or more of these vital nutrients provide the most effective balance.
Join Partners in Health and Biz podcast host/Natural Health Consultant Gail Dixon-McBride as she shares why certain natural foods contain the powerful antioxidants that can help prevent and slow down the aging process in people.

Addressing Important Men’s Health Issues - More from the Men’s Health Conference

Addressing Important Men’s Health Issues - More from the Men’s Health Conference

In general, men in the U.S. are expected to live nearly six years less than women, and non-Hispanic Black and American Indian/Alaska Native men have a lower life expectancy than non-Hispanic white men. Many diseases that disproportionately impact men, like heart disease and cancer, are preventable through regular doctor’s visits and healthy lifestyle choices.
However, one survey found that 63 percent of men of color report not getting regular health screenings. Men are also more likely to have lower health literacy levels than women, meaning they may struggle to find, understand, and use information and services required to make informed decisions about their health.Tune in and listen to this episode of Partners in Health and Biz as cancer biologist/author Dr. Bernard Kwabi-Addo shares important facts about fat, salt and sugar, and how they effect our health.
