Payton Lothman: On serving with Young Life & in 6 countries in 2024

Payton Lothman: On serving with Young Life & in 6 countries in 2024

Payton Lothman is my guest for episode 76.
She is going on an 11 month adventure this year.

    Here's her bio:
"Hello! I am a woman with a heart after God, His people & the radical life of sharing His love story with the world. I was raised in Central California & currently reside in my hometown, Portland, Oregon. Though I miss the beach & warm weather, the captivating beauty of the Oregon Coast & easy accessible trails & waterfalls have stolen my heart.
You can find me eating fruit, drinking an iced honey latte or at the gym most of the time! I love love love laughing with friends, hanging out with my middle school youth kids & being around youth in general.

Living in a single parent household for most of my life & growing up with lots of siblings from all different parents has taught me the value & importance of family as well as adopting others into our families.

I was born into a Christian church-going family that started to drift from God very quickly & it wasn’t until I was 12 years old, at a church summer camp, that I chose to follow Jesus for the rest of my life! This led me to be baptized at 17 & start chasing hard after God following my high school graduation.

Aside from serving with middle schoolers in the youth group setting as well as YoungLife, missions has been a catalyst in my faith journey. My life has been full of saying “yes” when I want to say “no”, learning how to adapt & find comfort in Jesus in places that are extremely uncomfortable & breaking out of the shell of the fear of man & stepping into courage, confidence & boldness in the Lord alone.
I am scared, excited, impatient, anticipating, nervous, expectant, doubtful & grateful for the opportunity set before me to be the hands & feet of Jesus in such a broken world.

“For this is what the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” Acts‬ ‭13‬:‭47‬

Thank you for your partnership in prayer over this crazy journey!"

PlanManPlan ,

Great and encouraging podcast that will heal and bless your life

I really enjoy this podcast and I love the broad and specific the deep and wide topics its talks about. Rarely on the big stage of church do they deal with such topics as mental health and this podcast fills the gap and not only that it equips and strengthens you to walk more faithfully with God and your community. I look forward to each episode and it has helped me with so many different areas of my life. I can’t recommend it enough and it so well done. Also it has a wide range of guests both male, female and people of color and backgrounds. Well researched and well done, I listen to some episodes over and over because I am kind of stubborn and I need to have lessons repeated for me to understand. A refreshing podcast that is balm to your heart and satisfying to your mind. A

Insightful and timely

This is exactly what we need right now. It’s insightful, inspirational and very timely in a time of isolation when so many of us need that something extra to keep us going. Being in mental health myself, I find that so many people question what benefit comes from therapy and counseling and what better way to find out than getting a glimpse into those heads that are trained to get into ours.
