At 94 years old, she’s still raising her voice for the voiceless and teaching communities how to wield their power. We often separate voting blocs by race — we talk about “the Black vote,” “the Latino vote,” “the White vote,” “the Asian-American vote.” but in reality, these are all big — often disparate — groups of people. So this week, to close out Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Month, we wanted to do a deep dive on the AANHPI voting bloc. Over the last 40 years, evangelical Christians have become an influential voting block. White evangelical support for Donald Trump exceeded 80 percent in the 2016 election. The intensifying politicization of the evangelical movement has been too much for some, and many are leaving the church. To understand the voting patterns of evangelicals and the exodus of young evangelicals, Errin chats with Sarah McCammon, a national political correspondent for NPR and author of “The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church.”

Asian massage workers and sex workers have long been the targets of violence in America – but their stories often get pushed to the margins. This week, as AAPI Heritage Month begins, we’re pulling those stories to the center. Yin Q – one of the core organizers of Red Canary Song, a collective organizing with and for Asian and migrant sex workers – joins the show to share some of the stories of their community, break down the history of violence against Asian sex and massage workers, and sketch out what a future where sex work is decriminalized would look like.
