Flusterclux With Lynn Lyons: For Parents Who Worry

Parenting isn't easy, and it's normal to worry. Lynn Lyons, therapist, author, and speaker is one of the world's experts on helping parents, kids, and teens manage anxiety. She talks with co-host and sister-in-law Robin Hutson in a weekly podcast full of laughs, and practical advice without the psychobabble. At the beginning of the pandemic, Lynn and Robin started the Flusterclux podcast when their parenting retreats went on hiatus, and they're now 2 years in, talking about anxiety and worry, their love for Mr. Rogers, and the crazy things the mental health field gets WRONG about anxiety. Anxiety Expert Lynn Lyons has been a therapist for over 30 years. She's an author of 3 books with a new one coming out in October and has traveled around the US and Canada training hundreds of audiences teachers, school nurses, counselors and parents about managing anxiety. Flusterclux represents that feeling of overwhelm. Each episode is filled with practical advice for parents how to better manage their worry and big feelings like anger and sadness so that they are modeling healthy emotional awareness. Lynn answers listener questions and gives parents concrete strategies for developing the traits that are their kids' best defenses against anxiety and depression later in life: flexibility, resilience, autonomy, and problem solving. New episodes every Friday at 5AM EST. Find us at flusterclux.com https://www.facebook.com/flusterclux https://www.instagram.com/flusterclux/

Once I started reading Lynn’s books and listening to her podcast, the switch flipped in our family life. We were now aware of how anxiety creeps into our everyday life, and also gave us the skills on how to manage our own anxiety and our daughters. I highly recommend this podcast and Lynn‘s books to anyone who is dealing with anxiety. It has helped our family so much. I also want to shout out Robin for being a great cohost and asking those questions that I would be asking if Lynn was sitting with me.
Thank you!

This is an amazing podcast. Lynn and Robin- you make a great team. I am in the mental health field, I’ve worked in community programs since 2013, and now aiming to transition into supporting kids (with their parents!) in an outpatient setting. Lynn, I thank you for sharing your 35+ years of knowledge.

As a psychologist that works with kids and a mom, Lynn provides the most accurate and needed messaging for the challenges facing our kids’ mental health. She is clinically spot on, evidence-based and an excellent communicator. Listen and know you are taking steps to help your child become a more resilient person in the world.

As a parent and a mental health counselor, it’s hard to find podcasts with information that appeals to both roles. There’s way too much stuff out there that either colludes with parental anxiety or is too theoretical to be practically useful to a parent. Lynn is SO SMART. What she shares is trustworthy and based in clinical best practices, so I can get behind it as a counselor. She also shares information and frameworks in such a clear and pragmatic manner that parents can digest it and actually use it. I tell all my friends about this podcast for reliable information about mental health in childhood.
Very informative

I’ve listened to many podcasts about parenting and just found this one today and I’ve already decided it’s one of my favorites. The information is really useful and presented in a way that’s easy to understand. I also really like the chemistry of Lynn and Robin and the sound of their voices. That might seem strange, but it’s a huge thing for me when listening to podcasts and audiobooks :)
So healing!!

Even as a mid-20s year old who struggles with anxiety, this podcast is so helpful to implement tips, realize old habits and ways that are no longer serving me, and healing my inner child.

I am the mom of a 6 year old with selective mutism, social anxiety, all the sensory problems, rigidity, and global thinking patterns, and this podcast has changed our lives for the better as a family. Have been listening for 6 months now. Forget “the Rogan experience” , “the daily” and all those other highly followed podcasts….. THIS is the true life altering stuff. Flusterclux should be a required listen, right there next to birthing and nursing classes. I am a total groupie now, and recommend to listen to my parent friends all the time.
Life changing!

I found Lynn and Robin, about a year ago, with the help of God, the universe, or some extremely insightful algorithms. Whatever the reason, I am so grateful to both of them for sharing their wisdom and humor with us! With their support, my eyes have been opened to the sticky brain patterns I’ve had my whole life (I am 47), how they have hindered my mental health, and how those patterns affect my children and all my relationships. I am forever grateful to both of you for offering me this new perspective on life and how I can affect change for myself and those I interact with at home and at work.
