Full Bellies Lead to Bright Futures: what is food insecurity?

NowThis Kids

Can you imagine opening your refrigerator and nothing was there? That’s a reality for many kids and families in the USA. A lot of people  don’t have access to the food they need to grow and be healthy. This episode we’re talking about food accessibility and how you can help people who are hungry.

Host Naomi Wadler tells us where you can volunteer and donate to make a difference, and Correspondent Luria Freeman explains why doing our part to not waste food can help the millions of children who go hungry. We also speak to the Silverman family, where brothers Gabe, Riley and Jackson founded I Heart Hungry Kids, a non-profit devoted to ending childhood hunger.

How did you cut back on waste or make food accessible to another person? Let us know by sending us an email at kids@nowthismedia.com
