Take A Stand: What is activism and how can you get involved?

At 11 years old, host Naomi Wadler organized a walk-out at her school to take a stand against gun violence. When someone takes a stand for fairness and justice it’s called activism. This week on NowThis Kids, we’re talking about what activism looks like and how we can get involved.

Naomi introduces us to her family and talks to them about raising a young activist and what families can do together to inspire positive social change.

What is activism? Correspondent Alejandro Alba explains how it breaks down into two categories, so you can figure out what activism is best for you.

How are you being active in your community? We want to hear about it! Send us an email to kids@nowthismedia.com

This week on NowThis Kids, host Naomi Wadler is talking about farming and why it’s important that everyone has access to quality, nutritious food.

We speak to Chander Payne who founded Urban Beet, which offers marginalized kids in the community the opportunity to learn all about farming. Chander tells us how the future of farming involves helping families across the world access delicious fruits and vegetables.

Not every community has a quality grocery store nearby, so how can we combat this? Correspondent Alejandro Alba explains urban farming and how it can help those communities.

Change the Title to; Please let us indoctrinate your children with disproven Retardation.

Only let your kids listen to this if you want them living in your basement until they are 45 working part time at Burger King because not even McDonald’s hires idiots with liberal arts degrees. However if you wish to retardate your children this is significantly cheaper than sending them to college for lesbian dance theory. In which case, 5 stars.

It has great messages I love it!

I think that this is definitely something that kids should listen to. There are very good messages about kindness and support. It explains issues in a way that kids can understand, and opens them up to great ideas. I love this show! There definitely needs to more of this content aimed at kids. Also the 1 star reviews are just sad. Please make more episodes.

Great teaching opportunities

LOVE this podcast. My son is only 6 & I worried the podcast would go over his head but he keeps asking to listen so I guess not! We listen on our commute everyday and it provides excellent opportunity to talk about things that matter with my son. Yesterday, we talked about credit scores. The day before, we talked about how people become homeless and how we can help.

Thank you!!!
