The Celtics and Trail Blazers traded leads over 20 times late into the fourth quarter when Jayson Tatum sunk a side-step three ahead by one to ice the game as Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers pushed back from down eight with a barrage of shots. Marcus Smart guarded Jusuf Nurkic, stole passes and race full-court to cut off an Enes Kanter pass at one point. The Celtics trapped Lillard successfully twice late in the fourth, and forced the Blazers to commit 14 turnovers. Kemba Walker pushed the pace, reached the basket and scored 21 points in one of his best performances all year and Boston held on by one point after a Norman Powell three led Smart and Brad Stevens to draw up an intentional free throw miss and trap on the rebound. Boston has won 9-of-11 since starting Robert Williams III after the trade deadline and reached the fifth seed in the east.

The Celtics trailed throughout vs the Nuggets, picked apart by Nikola Jokic passes and cuts by Michael Porter Jr and Aaron Gordon. Late in the third quarter, fading by 14, Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker turned up the intensity in transition to score a 9-0 run they carried into the fourth. Jayson Tatum joined the scoring barrage, while Robert Williams and the defense held Denver to eight points and three baskets in the entire 4th quarter as Boston stormed ahead into a blowout on a 40 8 run. Grant Williams, guarding and frustrating Jokic, forced Michael Malone to bench Jokic with five minutes remaining as the Celtics bench outscored Denver's bench units by as many as 30. The Garden Report discussed the win, Tristan Thompson's continued impact and the Gordon trade.

The Celtics went behind by 17 points in the first half to Karl-Anthony Towns and the Timberwolves, tossing turnovers around while Kemba Walker struggled and Jayson Tatum got frustrated with the officiating. In the second half, Marcus Smart exploded with energy, forcing two steals, a jump ball and hitting 7-of-12 field goal in the game along with stopping Anthony Edwards in transition to help turn the game around. Tristan Thompson and Smart built a wall inside against Towns, while Tatum scored 13 points in a row to close the third, taking a lead shortly into the fourth, before he finished with a career-high 53 points to match Isaiah Thomas' legendary playoff total. Jaylen Brown converted 7-of-10 to keep the game moderately close early while Kemba hit back-to-back threes in overtime to seal the game. D'Angelo Russell erased a late Celtics lead with a 14-2 run that helped Minnesota force overtime in the eventual Boston win, conflicting John Zannis and A. Sherrod Blakely about how good to feel about the win.

The Celtics won a grueling, physical matchup late vs the Knicks behind a Jaylen Brown breakout score that helped him reach 32 points. Marcus Smart added a go-ahead three after Julius Randle made a late push to tie the game and Jayson Tatum scored 25 on 10-of-21 shooting. Smart and Brown locked down defensively throughout, while Tristan Thompson return from COVID nearly one month later to block three shots and grab 3 offensive rebounds.

Robert Williams III fouled out early and Joel Embiid continued to take advantage of the Celtics in his second game back from knee injury. Jayson Tatum struggled early and throughout as the Boston offense lagged in the absence of Evan Fournier, out for the foreseeable future in COVID protocol. Jaylen Brown started hot and the Celtics couldn't find him later. Kemba Walker struggled, Romeo Langford showed flashes, but overall the Williams foul situation undermined the center rotation for the rest of the game and drew Luke Kornet and even Tacko Fall into extra action.
