We are all made in the image of God, and there's a restlessness that we all feel unless we are in relationship with Jesus. Our culture is running around trying to find satisfaction, looking for something to fill that need, and they are deeply dissatisfied.

It is possible in our association with institutional religion to have some kind of vague belief in God and being a good person and a good "Christian"and not be born again or receive the Holy Spirit. So if we have truly encountered Jesus, then we have something to share.

We come to the story of Abraham in Genesis and we find a command, a blessing, and then an action. The hard part for us is to believe that it is actually the case that to center our lives on God, to commit our lives to God, is indeed good.

There are people drifting merrily on their way all around us, thinking that a few occasional religious acts, or a prayer here or there, or something they said in their youththey think that will save them.

It's important that we have clarity in the Christian church on what we're trying to achieve, based on the Scriptures and the gospel. And it needs to be memorable, so that everyone in the church understands what the common goal is.
