Grey 17 - A Babylon 5 Podcast

I’m a late come to this podcast not big on the social media except for Facebook so might as well call me by my cheesy username all pun intended of Albert Fredo, yes, I can hear you groaning now. I’ve re-watched Babylon 5 six times but this listening to the newbies talk about the show is just bringing it back together as if I’m watching it for the first time also I’m enjoying the love hate and everything you talk about sometimes you guys get annoying but most of the time is just spot on fun. Really wish I had found the Pont cast when you first started but now I look forward to seeing what you do next. On a sidenote, I just finished listening to Zaha doom. The one thing everybody missed was that terrified screen and Sheridan had and also it was done around Halloween. You guys should’ve come to my neighborhood. We have candy for the kids and nip bottles of fireball for the adults. But I don’t think any of you are in Southeast Massachusetts lol keep up the great work.

B-5 is my one and only sci-fi love. I am a proud first one. I have very much enjoyed listening to how the newbies react and judge the characters I know and love. The behind the scenes of B-5 give me so much to take into consideration when I am rewatching for the thousandths time. I find myself laughing out loud as I listen on my commute and the dynamic personalities here, keep me coming back for more. Don’t let them put you in the kitchen Jessie! I look forward to hearing your outbursts every week. Please continue with Crusade I would absolutely LOVE to hear the newbies takes on this as well as the behind the scenes stuff I never knew. Keep up the great work from a loyal listener in Vermont!

I love this show, been listening to it since near the beginning and it has quickly become one of my favorite B5 (or any) podcasts. The unique part of this show is getting to go on the first time watch experience with the newbies for the first part and then listen to the first timers dish on all the lore that the newbies haven’t learned yet. It can be crass at times (well most of the time — not a safe for work listen!) but the personalities of the hosts and the comrade they share is a joy to listen to especially when it goes off the rails. I’m especially appreciative of the wide range of perspectives, and that they almost never agree on anything. The one thing I might change is let the newbies talk more (and Scott maybe a little less — kidding, sort of)! Love you guys!

I discovered B5 in February and started listening to this podcast about a month ago. I have enjoyed listening to the newbies making predictions and being way off or even being correct. Some of the conversations go off the rails but they are still fun. There is only one negative - while I really do not mind the entire group leaning left (I lived in Los Angeles so I heard it all the time), I kind of wish that they would agree that the fact both people who lean left and those who lean right, regardless of who created and wrote the show and with what intentions, maybe the left and the right have a lot more in common than most believe, especially in these partisan times. Maybe B5 gives us universal themes, which is shown in its cast as Jerry Doyle definitely leaned right and several other cast members leaned left, but both sides could agree on how special the show was, including its various themes. This shows how the writing was incredible and is still relatable today, 30 years later. It also shows how history tends to repeat itself as I am seeing events of today relating to the series. Overall, if allowed, I would give this podcast 4.3 Stars.
