Gritty Girls Podcast

The Gritty Girls podcast is a place where you can come to process the issues and topics your girlfriends, family or co-workers may or may not be discussing. We discuss topics most moms aren’t bringing up on playdates and are too personal, or too taboo to bring up at the office. So if you’re bored with small talk and are ready to dive deeper, then this is the place for you!
This Is What You Should Listen to in the Car or on the Subway!

I have taken to listening to these podcasts while I’m on longer drives. They give me me something to look forward to. Listening to Christina and Leslie is like eavesdropping on your best friends’ conversation. They are honest, smart, warm, perhaps a little outrageous, and funny. Some of the episodes I thought would be fun and offer lighter fare (e.g. “I’m a Princess, Too!”) were actually poignant as well. “Too PC or Not Too PC?” struck a balanced tone - presenting several angles from which to view the argument - while still clarifying the creators’ stance. I found “Snapped!” especially helpful in providing education and commiseration around being an overloaded mom. “Unfriend” approaches the break up of a friendship in a very honest, thoughtful manner; exploring both the emotions and actions to take after the fact. The episode regarding homeschooling during the pandemic provided comprehensive information and discussion around homeschooling, from choosing a curriculum and socializing to preparing for and applying to college. I definitely look forward to listening to more!
Come sit by the fire pit

Picture yourself in the backyard, hanging with your married adult friends, with the last sunlight gone, the fire pit is going, the barbecue was great, the drinks are flowing, laughter is contagious, the kids... well, they are off tucked in the house watching videos well out of earshot. Everything is like “yeah.” The talk ... it’s lively. As Bono says, the stuff of country songs... well maybe not quite, though they could be very interesting songs if written. The conversation steers from serious topical issues, to personal, to ribald, to intimate, to sexual, and emotional issues. The things you feel safe to talk about with good friends. That is kind of conversation Christina and Leslie have created with this podcast. Conversations that deal with what we feel free to talk about usually after a few tongue loosen’ers. The adult personal “what about that.” Subjects that you only share with your close friends. Throw in a few guest experts, and you have a lively conversation on intimate and real issues for adults. Like the fire pit, there is laughter galore and seriousness all with new things to learn on hot topics. It is also a podcast that your voice can join, through their “What do you think.” They have made it easy through their website to add your own thoughts on upcoming subject matters. You can see the subjects and record your thoughts. Thankfully for all of us, they only used 10 seconds of one of my rambles. But, it was fun to do and add my view. I enjoy hearing other listeners thoughts. It maybe called “Gritty Girls,” but the conversation is for both sexes. For us Guys, it is a chance to hear what the Girls are saying and talking about. It gives you the opportunity to “break the ice” with your gal and start talking about things you might not have felt comfortable to talk with her about before in a personal way. Like any new conversation group (podcast), give it a few episodes. At first, you may feel like the odd one off in dark; but, once you get the rhythm, you will be soon up by the fire pit sharing your views openly with everyone else. Enjoy!
Relatable and Timely

What I love about this podcast is that they cover topics that I can relate to and they talk about them in a way that isn't controversial or extreme. It's thoughtful, timely and funny (listen til the end for the funny bloopers - love those!). Leslie and Christina are like your best girls, talking about all the things you only talk about with them. And they do their homework, so it's not just a bunch of ranting and raving and fluff. It's real stories about real people. It's well-produced, thorough and leaves you looking forward to the next episode.
Love it!
