She started her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Sewanee: The University of the South, but after personal experiences with substance abuse and its effects, she completed her senior year at Tennessee State University. Junie then pursued a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health at Trevecca and began her career in residential substance abuse treatment. She is also trained in EMDR through HAP. She earned her MBA in 2002, which reignited her passion for international affairs, and was selected as one of 6 U.S. journalists for a 10-day U.S.-Korean journalism exchange in 2023.
