Hockey and Hounds an exclusive weekly discussion of Flyers hockey right from the point of view of the Flyers bench boss John Tortorella. Along with the hockey talk comes Tortorella’s passion for animal welfare. Each week the team will partner with Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) and Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for an adoptable animal along with events and news happening to get involved within the animal community. Hockey & Hounds is a must listen for animal lovers and hockey fans who want inside information on the team coming directly from Coach Tortorella.

This week, we walk the line with Johnny Cash, a one-year-old mixed breed pup currently in foster care with PAWS. Johnny Cash is gentle soul with sweet introverted qualities who takes time and patience to warm up to new people, but once he does he's very eager to please his humans. A low-pace pup who isn’t very outdoorsy, he would be great for someone looking for a companion around the house who isn’t necessarily looking for a dog that needs a lot of exercise or outdoor play time.     Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella and Jason Myrtetus discuss the first two games of the team's South Florida road trip, including the win over Tampa Bay. The goaltending situation is affected by injuries, giving the coaching staff a look at Ivan Fedotov, who picked up his first NHL win in Tampa. This week, we're looking for a home for Ang, an 11-month-old sweetheart who has had a rough start in life. Ang was found on the street in the city by a Good Samaritan with two stab wounds. He was rushed to PSPCA and then to emergency surgery, but is now recovering well. Ang is a loving and resilient pup searching for his forever home! He’s through the worst of his battle and he's ready to find a special family that will shower him with love and care. With a few battle scars that only add to his unique charm, Ang is full of puppy energy and adores being around people. Whether it's going for walks, playing in the yard, or snuggling on the couch, Ang is always ready for some fun! Some dogs really struggle in a kennel environment and Ang is certainly one of them. Though she is a bit shy at first, this girl warms up quickly with the help of some tasty snacks. Chessie has a loving personality just waiting to shine! Bella Ella can't get enough cuddles or belly rubs and often checks in by getting up from a nap to ask for pets. Bella even leans her whole body into you and gives gentle kisses. In the season premiere episode, the duo recaps Training Camp and discuss the excitement for the 2024-25 campaign. This episode, we're finding Missy a new home. Missy is a very social, if lazy, pup. She is very often loose and waggy with soft eyes, but can also be aloof and independent. Missy arrived with matted, dirty fur, so she got a fresh cut. Her hair will grow back, and we cannot wait to see her glow up. She may have had a hard start in life, but she is ready to shine!     Meet Kculli: Hockey & Hounds with John Tortorella

    Jason Myrtetus concludes the 2023-24 Hockey & Hounds season with Flyers head coach John Tortorella as they discuss the upcoming do-or-die end of the regular season. We also meet Kculli, a survivor of a dogfighting ring who was rescued by the PSPCA in November of 2021 along with 32 other dogs. The majority of these pups have found homes, but Kculli and three other are still waiting. There is nothing wrong with this sweet girl, despite her horrific past. She is a bit shy at first, but she opens up quickly and just LOVES people. She can live with kids, but not other animals.

We also revisit Harriett, a previously featured Hockey & Hounds star still searching for a home. Harriet is the most playful and snuggly girl of your dreams. One of her previous foster parents coined the nickname "Miss Rolly-Polly" for her because after a few moments of pets or scratches she'll lean all ~50+ lbs of her body weight into your legs before flopping onto the floor, with her legs fully splayed into the air and all.

    Flyers head coach John Tortorella checks in on current events with Jason Myrtetus, and we meet Daktota, a Siberian Husky who came to the PSPCA with severe eye issues that required their removal. Despite her past, Dakota remains incredibly sweet with her personality shining more and more each day. Dakota is very smart and what she lacks in sight, she makes up for in her hearing and sniff skills! She knows sit and shake. She is very affectionate to handlers especially when they follow her training plan. Dakota is looking for a home that will continue her training and learning. She is open to dog meets. She is looking for a family who can help support these needs.
