Title: Hour Game Subtitle: King and Maxwell, Book 2 Author: David Baldacci Narrator: Scott Brick Format: Unabridged Length: 14 hrs and 26 mins Language: English Release date: 04-24-17 Publisher: Macmillan Digital Audio Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 5 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Espionage Publisher's Summary: David Baldacci's heart-stopping Hour Game is the second fast-paced thriller in the King and Maxwell series. Following their collaboration in Split Second, ex-Secret Service agents Sean King and Michelle Maxwell have gone into partnership and are investigating the robbery of some secret documents at the residence of the incredibly wealthy Battle family. It seems like a straightforward case of domestic burglary, but soon they begin to suspect links to larger, more terrifying events now shaking the prosperous town of Wrightsburg.... The unidentified corpse of an attractive young woman turns up in the woods; two high school kids, one shot in the back, the other in the face, are found dead in their car; a successful lawyer is discovered stabbed to death in her own home. A serial killer is on the loose. The murderer kills in the manner of famous killers of the past but takes care to leave a stopped watch at the scene of each crime - corresponding to the victim's position on his hit list. As the killing spree escalates, it seems that the fractured Battle family are somehow involved, and Maxwell and King suddenly find themselves racing to solve an intricate puzzle, one that is full of tantalizing clues but barren of solid evidence and one that is leaving even the FBI confounded. And all the while, the body count is rising.... Hour Game is followed by Simple Genius, First Family, The Sixth Man and King and Maxwell. Members Reviews: Triple E! Excellent, excellent, excellent. Great story, characters and narration. You won't be dissapointed. Classic whodunnit that can match any of the greats you heard before. Had me hooked from beginning to surprising end. Completely absurd The worst Baldacci book Ive come across. Maxwell and King are hotshot Private investigators. In fact King does all the clever deducing helped by the author repeatedly resorting to referencing things which hadnt been mentioned previously. All the athleticism is Maxwells otherwise gender stereotypes prevail throughout. Add in the cliched array of incompetent keystone cops and you have it. The plot is totally implausible and completely overwrought. Basically it concerns a serial killer running amok in a small community. The cops are useless and deputise our heroes to do their job. King figures it all out. Maxwell is continually asking Whats going on Sean? being completely unable to keep up with the pace of his deductions despite her much vaunted IQ. Shes got his back though and rescues him a couple of times and the favour is returned. The book has a couple false endings before finally collapsing in a totally laughable denouement. David Baldacci and Scott Brick do it again Good story as always and excellent narration. Pity Book one in the series is damaged in the recording. Never trust anyone in a murder hunt Really good intricate and absorbing story. Never slowing down the action was fast and furious with enough twists and turns to make you dizzy. Very enjoyable like Baldaccis other books this author is top class . Highly recommended Worth spending time with Baldacci keeps it moving Good complex story, Brick is easy to listen to. lots of twists and turns. The finish suggests a sequel.
