    First Week back, Caitlin Hayes, and SWPL 2 call-offs

    It’s the first full week back in the SWPL, and we pick things up with all the same drama and chaos as before the break. Big news story this week has been rumours circulating (by Hayes’ agent) that clubs are interested in the Celtic and Ireland defender. We discuss the weight of the rumour as well as other transfer comings and goings. In the SWPL 1, we discuss Celtic beating Thistle, with Elena Sadiku trying out her new system - tried and tested in Gran Canaria. As well as wondering why Thistle aren’t creating more against the ‘top 3’. Then we focus on Motherwell beating Dundee United 6-1. A very impressive performance from the young team, but more misery for Dundee United. In the SWPL 2 Kilmarnock won both their games over the week to close the gap to Hamilton, although Hamilton had their game called off in contreversial circumstances.     24/25 Mid-Season Review

    Happy New Year! To kick off 2025 we have a bumper epsiode to review all the action across the SWPL to date. We pick our 5-Of-The-Season so far, highlghting our star performers off the season across the SWPL 1 and SWPL 2. We then take time to debrief what has been a hectic first half of the season. Looking over the 5-way title race. We discuss how impressive Glasgow City have been, and what more they have to give. We then assess what Rangers and Celtic need to do to keep up with City, before looking more closely at Hibs and Hearts and debating their chances for the title. There is then the small matter of the battle for 6th between Partick Thistle and Motherwell, which looks set to go to last day of the normal season (again.). Then there is the fight to avoid the drop. With Montrose, Aberdeen and Spartans all nervously close to that 10th place. Also, we look to SWPL 2 where Accies continue to look inevitable for their promotion. Before looking at the relegation battle there, with one automatic and one play-off spot the SWPL 2 relegation is alwasy tense. We cast an eye to the SWF Championship to see what to expect come those playoff games. Finally, as it is January, we discuss transfers. What we expect from clubs, and what we think clubs need or don’t need. All of the in just over an hour. If you haven’t had the chance to keep up with all the SWPL action this season, this episode should hopefully bring you right up to speed. 2025 is going to be one heck of year in Scottish Football and you do not want to miss it!

    PML Sacked, City batter Rangers, SWPL 2 relegation fight, and Celtic's UWCL debrief

    It has been an incredibly busy week in the world of Scottish Women’s Football. Pedro Martinez Losa was relieved of his duties as Scotland Manager. Meanwhile, Craig Joyce has left Queen’s Park, after they have struggled to pick up points in the SWPL 1. With Suzanne Lappin (Grant) taking on an assistant role in the club. On a wider scale FifPro released their 2024 Women’s Player Workload Monitoring report. We discuss the impact of this report on the SWPL, and some of the work already being done in Scotland to address it. Finally, we discuss the announcement of UEFA’s 2nd tier competetion the ‘Europa Cup’. Celtic’s UWCL campaign came to a dissapointing end, with another 3-0 loss. Ending the campaing with 0 points, and only scoring one goal. Whilst there were some good performances, overall we can’t help but be dissapointed by their showing. Looking to the SWPL, we discuss Glasgow City’s demolition of Rangers, including Brenna Lovera being a pressing machine and Rangers’ lack of attacking threat. We then cast an eye to the relegation battle, as Dundee United picked up their first win of the season. In the SWPL 2, we talk through Accies brilliant come back against Gartcairn. Insprired by Josi Giard (again). Before again casting an eye to the relegation fight, as Ayr United pulled off a brilliant result to beat Rossvale 3-1. Post winter break the SWPL 2 is undoubtedly going to pop off.

    Time to go Pedro, Scottish Cup, and Top 30 SWPL players

    We’re back after the international break! Despite the week off, Scotland’s loss and continued fall out is still just as raw. Pedro Martinez Losa still has the job, and we are starting to get real nervous about the future of our national team. We also cover the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup. As Hearts knock out Hibs, City see of Thistle, and a couple small upsets. We also discuss Celtic and Rangers’ big scorelines. Why didn’t they start more academy players, and what does that mean for Scottish football? Finally, we look to The Scotsman’s ‘30 best players in the SWPL’ (read here). We got to give our vote to the list, so we talk through the list. Who is deserving, who missed out, and all the other discourse that comes with it.     Beth MacLeod Goalkeeping Hero (and lots of other SWPL and SWNT stuff)

    What a week across the SWPL. Always put on a show before a brief intermission. We talk through Thistle earning a draw v Hibs, bringing back some of what made them so successfull previously. Then we look at Motherwell flying into the top 6. Attention turns to SWPL 2, and the Derby (at least peter thinks so) between Rossvale and Gartcairn. Finally, we look at the blockbuster clash between Accies and Boroughmuir Thistle. As Accies lose their 100% record thanks to incredible drama at the death! We then have a chat about the SWNT playoff final against finland, and discuss a listener question about club ownership to grow the game. All that in under 50 minutes. The only place to get this level of coverage of the scottish womens game.

    Mid Chelsea, Old Firm, Edinburgh Derby, NE Derby and more SWPL 2 chaos

    A big week of action, culminating in lots of big derby clashes across the SWPL. First of all we talk about Celtic facing Chelsea in the UWCL, and how big a jump is it really? Then we discuss all the action from the weekend derbies. Discussing Celtic being very good at creating chances for all the wrong people, and Rangers new set up getting the best out of them. Then there’s the small issue of the Edinburgh Derby, with a huge 3 points for Hibs, and then Aberdeen get their first points of the Scott Booth era. In SWPL 2, Boroughmuir Thistle recorded an impressive win over Kilmarnock, thanks to a very strong Cara Borthwick performance. Also, Accies extend their lead, and Rossvale finally win.     SWPL Cup debrief, McGovern Hatty and Daugherty the hero

    Quarter finals of the SWPL Cup gave us lots of goals, tactical shifts, and a penalty shoot out for good measure. Hibs saw off Partick Thistle in excellent style. Helped by a second half hat-trick from Kathleen McGovern. That will have given Grant Scott a headache... Celtic faced Glasgow City in the standout fixture of the draw. A proper cup tie, going all the way to penalties before Celtic come away victorious. A few question marks over where Caitlin Hayes, they have been somewhat answered now by her return in the UWCL (Wednesday night). Also, Rangers turned Motherwell over, and Scott Booth has led a struggling Aberdeen side to a national cup semi final.

    Scotland v Hungary, Is Pedro winning us over? And the future of the SWNT is bright

    A special episode this week giving all our attention to Scotland's playoff semi-final victory over Hungary. Thankfully nothing spooky for Halloween! We discuss the nerves of the first leg, and Pedro testing the Scottish psyche by being so confident. Then replay the near perfect performance of the second leg at Easter Road. Before looking ahead to how we repeat this to beat Finland in the final. Finally we discuss the U-23 performances and how that looks to be bearing fruit. Not least in the form of one of our favourite strikers, Eilidh Adams.
