Husker247 Podcast: New DC and a bunch of OVs

Husker247 Podcast: New DC and a bunch of OVs

It’s a big recruiting edition of the Husker247 podcast as the first half of the episode features Mike Schaefer and Michael Bruntz, before 247Sports analyst Andrew Ivins joins to talk about Matt Rhule’s recruiting, new commit Brice Turner and several of Nebraska’s weekend visitors.
Despite the heavy recruiting talk the podcast actually starts with Tony White as Nebraska’s next defensive coordinator. Bruntz and Schaefer run through his background, why the 3-3-5 intrigues them, which positions the Huskers have to emphasize and more on the coach.
From there the discussion turns into rundown of the visit weekend and all the players the Huskers are expected to host. They finish things up discussing Nebraska’s new facilities and what those could mean for visitors this weekend.
When Ivins joins the conversation shifts to what about Rhule makes recruiting analysts get excited and how the methodology has paid big dividends.
Ivins then breaks down Nebraska’s new commit and walks through why several recent Rhule offers received high ratings or even ratings bumps.
Finally Ivins discusses the possibility of the Huskers landing Cameron Lenhardt and how he could fit with the defense and a spirited discussion on how Jeff Sims’ potential makes him tantalizing, even if the track record is uneven.

Husker247 Podcast: 'Crootin and a coach hire

It’s been quite a week at Nebraska with coaches getting on the road, the transfer portal popping and Matt Rhule still needing to put together his full staff.
The Husker247 crew assembled to discuss all of these things, but started with Brice Turner, Nebraska’s newest commitment and how he came to join the class and why he represents the kind of players the Huskers could load up on to finish things out in 2023.
From there the conversation gets into in-state recruiting and what Rhule has been doing, where he’s been and why high school coaches are happy to see different people walking the hallways in their schools.
Nebraska is set to retain Donovan Raiola as the offensive line coach. We walk through the decision and outline why it appears to be happening, what it means and the concerns about the move.
Finally there’s some Nebraska basketball talk as the Huskers took down Creighton on Sunday, securing a win over a Top 10 team and halting a multiyear losing streak. What’s next for Nebrasketball?

The full group gathered for a podcast for the first time since Nebraska won at Iowa, Matt Rhule was hired and parts of the new coaching staff came together,
Discussion centered on Nebraska’s new assistants with conversations largely focused on new offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, his experience and what he can bring to the next Huskers offense.
At that point conversation turned to what the Huskers have to go add to finish out the staff and a little speculation as to who those people could be could be.
Finally there’s some Nebraska hoops talk as Nebraska is coming off a pair of wins against ACC foes Florida State and Boston College, but things ramp up with three top 10 matchups coming as games await against Creighton, Indiana and Purdue.

Husker247 ComboCast: Get HYPED plus coaching search chatter

Husker247 ComboCast: Get HYPED plus coaching search chatter

The week of Thanksgiving is a mess. To make it simple Husker247 has recorded a podcast combining all the banter and chatter you’ve come to expect from the Husker247 Podcast with the fly-by-night analysis and insane predictions the come from the Husker247 HypeCast.
Please enjoy the first ever ComboCast!
Things start, after Mike Schaefer gets everyone nice and hyped, with a look back at the loss to Wisconsin. What worked. What didn’t. Who stood out? And where do things sit as the Huskers head into Iowa.
Then Schaefer and Brian Christopherson spend 20 minutes on the coaching search with much of that time walking through the information about Bronco Mendenhall surfacing, where Matt Rhule could fit, how an AD has to work around all sorts of landmines to make a hire and the latest on Chris Klieman and Lance Leipold. Finally a few thoughts on the future of Mickey Joseph.
The podcast finishes as Michael Bruntz returns to talk Iowa and the trio make relatively deflating predictions, single out a few performers and mercifully end the podcast before spending too much time talking about the upcoming game.
Be sure to subscribe to the Husker247 Podcast to have new episodes downloaded immediately to your listening device.

Good show

Nice job guys. As a long suffering Gopher fan I enjoyed commiserating with you. The history bit was spot on and Your “oddly specific “ predictions were great as they ALL could happen. Gopher fans think all are def possible. Keep up the good work and good luck

this show used to be good ,

Get rid of Schaffer and it would be 5 star

Mike Schaffer is that idiot at the end of the bar who’s always wrong but in his own unemployable, bad breath, body odor, fearless mind he’s always right. Lol.

Beat IA

I enjoy the podcast every week including the “hype.”
The season is not over and it would be really nice to finish this season with 2 big wins. Especially IA as I reside in IA and am surrounded by Hawkeye talk and negativity towards NE. Beat the Hawks and Go Big Red!!
