Virginia! Storytelling! Black Ownership!!!
The episode (Ep. 7) with Malcom Gladwell (GOAT) and Kenya Barris (GOAT) was super empowering. As a Black man from Virginia who also is also a writer, it’s like this episode was speaking directly to me. The insights are abundant. That episode is one I’ll return to often.
I was also very excited to hear Pharrell big up Virginia so much to these two visionaries and revisionists. Being from Roanoke, VA as a Black man, its almost like we’re forgotten about on this side but there’s so much history and here as well. I hope that it’s not looked over if/when the story is told. Pharrell talks about untapped potential, the mountains and valleys on this side are absolutely stunning. The Roanoke Valley is a blank canvas. It’s the perfect place to inspire creativity.
I love this podcast and feel blessed to be hearing from Pharrell, FamLay, and Scott on a weekly basis. I’m always looking forward to it. If you’re debating whether to listen to this podcast - just do it! No Nike.
I’ve missed y’all mf’s. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We needed Pharrell and FamLay to have a platform where we can hear more from them. Being from Norfolk, Virginia this is what we been waiting for.
