British Murders is an independently produced true crime podcast focusing exclusively on British murder cases and serial killers. Each season comprises ten episodes, with a two-part special at the end focusing on one of the UK's more notorious murderers. Listeners of the show suggest the cases covered, and as a result, they are often ones that have received minimal media attention. To keep things fresh, high-profile guests in the true crime industry participate in interviews, while other true crime podcasters sometimes collaborate.

The Killamarsh Murders: An Avoidable Tragedy? (Derbyshire, 2021)
In this end-of-season special, I tell the stories of Terri Harris, John and Lacey Bennett and Connie Gent, who were murdered in Killamarsh, Derbyshire, on September 18, 2021.
Terri and her two children, John and Lacey, lived in a property at Chandos Crescent, Killamarsh, with Damien Bendall, a man whom Terri had met on an online dating app after separating from Jason Bennett, John and Lacey's dad.
Many mistakes and missed opportunities were made regarding Bendall's risk status to those he knew and children by the probation service. Hence, I've posed the question in this episode's title as to whether this was an avoidable tragedy.
On September 18, Connie stayed at the Killamarsh house to spend time with her best friend, Lacey. Between the late hours of that evening and the early hours of the following day, all four were killed by Bendall, whose arrest later that day was caught on police bodycam footage.
Bendall received a whole life order in December 2022 after pleading guilty to four counts of murder and one count of rape of a child under 13.

Interview #40 | Jack the Ripper: A 21st Century Investigation with Steven Keogh
I welcome former Scotland Yard Detective Inspector Steven Keogh back to the show in this interview episode to discuss his second book, 'Murder Investigation Team: Jack the Ripper: A 21st Century Investigation.'
In it, Steve applies modern-day investigative approaches to the 19th-century investigation through meticulous contemporary research, witness statements and reporting. He provides a fresh, new assessment of the unsolved Whitechapel murders from a modern-day policing perspective.
Steve revisits the crimes committed, why the lives of innocent people were taken, and attempts to discover just who was 'Jack the Ripper.'
With ground-breaking insight from one of the UK's leading criminal profilers, Pippa Gregory, the book takes the reader on a gruesome and incredible journey of discovery into one of the most infamous crimes in British history.
The book was released on July 20, 2023, and is available to purchase here:

Chesterfield's Darkest Day: The 1977 Pottery Cottage Murders
In this off-season episode, I bring you the story of the murders of Amy Minton, Arthur Minton, Richard Moran and Sarah Moran in a case commonly referred to as the Pottery Cottage murders.
As told by my guest Sally-Anne Martyn, this case has fallen somewhat under the radar, given it took place slap-bang in the middle of the Yorkshire Ripper's killing spree.
Escaped convict William Hughes held five members of the Minton/Moran family hostage for over 50+ hours, killing all but Gill Moran.
Hughes attempted to escape once the police were informed, but a shootout followed, leaving him dead at the hands of Derbyshire Constabulary. He was the first person to be shot dead by that particular force.

The Murder of Avril Dunn (Luton, 1985)
In this episode, I tell the story of Avril Dunn, a 26-year-old woman murdered in Luton, Bedfordshire, on September 14, 1985.
Avril went to The Heron, a local pub, that Saturday evening and was seen playing darts with some of the other regulars.
Leaving at around 10.30 pm, Avril is thought to have been seen in the company of a tall, fair-haired man who drove away from the pub in a light-coloured Opel Manta.
Her body was found at 7:30 am the following day. Still, her killer wouldn't be caught until thirteen years later when advances in DNA technology allowed scientists to match samples recovered from Avril's clothes to one of their key suspects at the time of her murder.
Duncan Jackson, a father of four, was found guilty of Avril's murder in January 2000 and received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years.
Chillingly, Duncan took part in reenacting Avril's case in the March 1986 episode of Crimewatch UK.

Moose!
You’ve got a great podcast and who knew, to my delight, that you’d ever bring up moose?!? I have an absurd fascination of moose, I honestly don’t know why. So, in addition to listening to your intriguing tales of UK true crime, I enjoyed a sort of personal shout out!
Thanks Stu!

From a brit and a yank…
Me and my girlfriend have listened to your podcasts for the last two summers, as we travel North to Alaska from Florida.
In 2019, on our first trip North together, there were two mysterious deaths, in South Dakota, three murders in British Columbia, and an accident that resulted in a death in Alaska, all of which took place within hours of us driving along our travel route.
All of the events were explained or solved by the local police, but having only met my girlfriend a few months earlier, and this being our first long road trip together, by the second event, i was sleeping with one eye open :)
Keep up the great podcasts!!!
