    ULTRA Redemption

    ULTRA Redemption

Walking away from an Ultra with a DNF can weigh heavily on an athlete. Regardless of if the DNF was due to mental or physical issues, leaving without a buckle can either drag you down or it can light a fire under you to come back stronger.
For Matthew Latawiec, his 2021 Killington Ultra DNF was a daily motivation to return to Vermont with a mission.
In today's Middle of the Pack Podcast, Matthew tells his story of battling back from an achilles tear, an ATV accident weeks before Killington, and ultimately a DNF to come back to the {Ultra} Beast of the East with one goal; to burn his 2021 Ultra Pinnie after jumping over that Killington Fire.
Make sure to like, subscribe and rate MOTP on your podcast app! And definitely add Muddy Buffalo to your 2023 OCR Calendar.

This is Going to Hurt - Indian Mud Run 2022

This is Going to Hurt - Indian Mud Run 2022

Is this goodbye to Indian Mud Run?!
With 106 obstacles over a "10k", The 10th Anniversary of Indian Mud Run rejuvenated our souls and reminded the OCR community exactly of what we love most about this sport; the people.
We left our blood, sweat, and tears out along the trails of Coshocton for arguable the most difficult obstacle course race in North America, and we sent this beloved race brand out in style. Nobody can truly describe Indian Mud Run with justice, but we do our best to pay homage to such an incredible race.
So what's next for the Coshocton Obstacle Course Race? We give our opinions and our feedback on what we hope to see in future races in Coshocton, Ohio.
*There were technical difficulties with sound during recording. Please forgive the choppiness in some volume changes.*

A promising start

For anyone who has spent even a little bit of time following Megan Beck, Derek Rozanski or Charles MacDonald on social media, you'll know that they are people who provide engaging content and have true love of the sport. The first two episodes are things that are very relevant within OCR and are topics that are pretty debated within Facebook groups and other social media platforms.

I generally listen to podcasts that are true crime related, that have a specific story they plan to tell over a certain number of episodes so there has to be a road map. And I think that with podcasts that deal more in a human interest where there is no endpoint the podcast is a conversation that evolves over time. While the hosts are getting their feet wet and discovering how they want to present things, I think it's fun to see that journey. I think it's rare when you listen to the first episode of a podcast and the 50th episode of a podcast and it's seamless without growth.

I'm going to disagree with the last review that made fun of someone's disability. Sure if you want to disagree on content, go for it. The podcast wasn't for you. But pointing out that someone has a lisp just makes you a bully and smacks in the face of what this podcast, and community, is about. It's bad enough that most people see promotional ads for OCR with people in incredible shape and it scares them out of even trying it because they don't look like those people. Now you want to go tell others that if you are different based on a disability and the way you say something you have no business speaking on the topic. Way to be inclusive.

Overall the podcast is entertaining and I look forward to hearing it evolve.

Too much complaining

I made it exactly 12 minutes and 25 seconds into this podcast. Given the title it sounded interesting, after listening for less than 15 minutes, the constant negativity was just too much to take. It seems like the hosts of this show want to vent all their grievances rather provide meaningful content.

The absolute worst

Pretty sure all these folks do is whine, and complain about all things OCR. There’s a clear favoritism towards one brand. They aren’t legitimate athletes so take what they say with a grain of salt. They’re social media influencers that think because the same 45 people share, like and hype their posts; they’re important. Just taking a look at any of their Athlinks of Stravas, you can head over to Running Public for a better listen from more qualified people.
