Glen- The art to explore
Today I am joined with Glen Murray- a photographer and videographer for Korupt vision where he follows some of the best triathletes in the world, capturing the pain and joys of this endurance sport and showcasing some of the beauty found in the ocean, roads and trails. He’s also the co-founder of Atohi, a triathlon apparel that understands the art to explore. I’ve jumped onboard as an ambassador and had a chat to find out the story behind Atohi, his perspective behind the scenes capturing photos and what it’s like being in the world of endurance.
I got to hear from Glens perspective having his wife be a pro Triathlete and capturing moments of hurt happiness and the highs and lows that happen in endurance races as he travelled around the world. We delve into Glens why and the mindset he brings into his work and creative endeavours. We talk about endurance and what a journey it is for each individual racing, putting themselves at their limit and exploring what they are capable of. You can check out Atohi’s website here and socials and his photography here. Keep posted for more episodes to come!-Explore Your Core

The power of habits- Dr Gina Cleo
For this episode I am joined with habit researcher, author and speaker Dr Gina Cleo. After reading her book The Habit Revolution and knowing from my own experience both the struggles and power of habits, I was so excited to able to have a deep dive into our behaviour and habits and break down some of the myths around motivation- about how it can lead to failed diets and a bad relationship with food and our bodies. Habits- they aren’t a quick fix, nor are they a one off thing, they are the result of being consistent over a long time and as Dr Gina Cleo puts it “don’t sound sexy” but they are actually the only proven way of long term change. After seeing so many failed attempts at change seen in her clients as a dietician that don’t come down to their lack of willpower of mental strength, Dr Gina Cleo then dedicated her life to understading and researching the role of habits. In this episode, we talk about the importance of our environment and minimising our temptations because willpower, just like a muscle fatigues over time- the more you resist the temptation, the more likely you are to cave later on in the day. Dr Gina Cleo shares a few practical tips for making a healthier environment around us such as keeping our phones away from our beds so we don’t hit snooze in the morning. (I know how tempting it is, escpecially with this cold weather!)We dive into habits- how 70% of everything we do is habitual and she talks about the reflexive and reflective part of our brain. She also explains why it can be hard to pave our own path- due to our evolutionary, we are made to fit in to aid in our survival so our brain rewards us when we do behaviours similar to others. Dr Gina Cleo’s socials can be found here, her website where you have access to her book can be found here. Comparison and Compassion- Tori Wood
Identity, injury and igniting the passion for life with Tori Wood. I first came across Tori Wood who’s an elite mountainbiker in Squarmish through a short film “Reflection” that looked at her jounrey coming from a competitive gymnastic background that left her struggling with her mental helth, unfortunatly a narrative that is too common. She traded her late nights partying for mountain biking and excelled. She changed her perspective around competition to find a healthy way to nagigate it and has since become a counsellor helping others with a sports focused an integrative approach. We spoke about identity and the fear associated with leaving an unhealthy identity and not knowing what the new one will be as well as how injury can challenge your idea of idenity. We discuss the tricky nagivation around competition and finding compassion rather than getting caught up in comparison and what we can control in a given situtaion. We delve into acceptance and attitude and notitcing with social media how much and what information we allow in. We end the conversation with an important question- what is your why, and asking is what you are currently doing fullfilling that why.You can find Tori Wood on socials here, or her website for her counselling services here where she does one-on-one counselling with individuals struggling with mental health issues and virtual coaching sessions.
