Wes Pierson - White Seabass to Chukar

Wes Pierson - White Seabass to Chukar

Wes Pierson is a captain and part owner of Bight Sportfishing. He has spent years and years searching for some of the biggest pelagic fish from tuna, swordfish and white seabass. He enjoys the dedication and knowledge it takes to seek out the elusive fish of white seabass.

But Wes isn't just about fishing, on his day off, we decided to hike around in the high desert looking for Chukar and Quail. I liked his approach to being outside. His interest in adventure, animals, clean food and simply being outside more brought about a peace and wisdom that was refreshing to be around.

If you have any desire to catch a White Seabass, I highly encourage you to seek out Bight Sportfishing and look up Wes on his instagram @onedowner

5 Meditations on the Outdoors with Gregg Shaw

5 Meditations on the Outdoors with Gregg Shaw

Gregg Shaw is a co-owner of Ampal Creative, fly-fisherman, and hunter. He has spent many years fly fishing for many years, and also a bird hunter and adventurer. Through these experiences, Gregg has found certain practices and thoughts that are to me very helpful to find what success and even happiness might mean.

Mastery, perfection and simple, are his approach. We talk a lot about expectations, dopamine, comparison and many other things we might feel while calling ourselves a hunter. I think the insights Gregg shares can help all of us find a little more wisdom in our journey into being not just quality hunters and fishermen but good people.

Not what you think…

I thought this would be a hunting & fishing podcast like the others - focused on the grip and grin big win moments. But Matt pulls the story out and the story always uniquely relates to the things that aren’t the big wins. As someone who is constantly and consistently skunked, it’s encouraging and fun to listen to.

Wonderful podcast

I’m not a hunter or fisherman, but this narrator is so enthusiastic and engaging that I love listening to this podcast.
